Subject: [CAMERON] Not all is bad news
In an effort to go another direction to try and find info on the
ever
elusive.........
John J. Cameron. I thought I would try to find info on the death of
Daniel
Cameron in Millie Lacs, MN. Daniel died in Sept. 1869 of Typhoid.
He
lived
in the same house as John and was 1 year older (pretty safe to assume
has
was
a brother). Well, Millie Lacs did not start keeping death records
until
1872, bummer. On the chance they kept marriage records before, I asked
about
John J. Cameron. BINGO! They have the marriage certificate for John
J.
Cameron and Permelia Lyons! They were married on Aug. 22nd 1869. I have
a
copy on the way. This confirms the 1870 census info that names John
Cameron
age 25 b. Canada, P. Cameron age 21 b. Penn. and (L. Cameron age 18
b.
Penn)
I have two theories on who L. Cameron is, Permelia had a younger
sister
named Lucinda Lyons. She would have been exactly 18 at the time of this
census. She was probably mistaken as a Cameron in the household. The
other
theory is that L. Cameron is the widow of Daniel who died the year
before.
But I give more of a chance to the first scenario, Daniel was 26 and L.
Cameron 18, also for L. Cameron to have the same 1st initial, born in Penn
and the same age as Lucinda Lyons is pretty circumstantial. I am happy
today
to find the marriage cert. We will break down this brick wall one
stone
at a
time.
All the Best,
Dean Cameron
