Greetings all,
I have been very entertained reading Dean's posts. Unfortunately all my
Cameron's are not related to his, but some days I wish they were!! It is
refreshing to see documented just how hard it is to find our predecessors,
and how hard it can be to fit all the pieces in the puzzle!! Keep on trying,
Dean...you'll get there eventually.
Now for all the rest of the list subscribers in America (please let me know
if this is going on in Australia, etc. - all you international subbers) ---
There seems to be another round of the mail scam going around, where you
receive a sales pitch for "The (insert name here) family in North America."
It reports to be "the authentic genealogical resource for researching YOUR
family roots." This is a complete rip-off !! I have not fallen for it, but
for those less experienced researchers it sounds like a dream come true...
Well, it's not. PLEASE don't waste your 34.95 plus S/H for a book that is
worthless. All the resources listed in this 'book' are available for free
over the Internet, or at your local library.
This scam seems to circulate about once every 2 years or so. I just wanted
to post this warning to the list, especially for those who might never have
seen this scam before.
Thanks for your time. Sorry for the length.
