There is a book - 1001 Name Index of The Descendants of John Cameron
"The
Wise" by Alex W. Fraser, U.E. It may be available from the Glengarry
Historical Society.
This book tells of a man who emigrated from Scotland to the Schenectady
area
of New York in 1773. He fought in the American Revolution in the
Kings
Royal
Regiment of New York and relocated to Summerstown, Ontario, Glengarry
County.
It lists approx 10 generations of his known descendants. He is one of
my
ancestors.
Stacie and other Canada Cameron's,
It seems that there were a lot of Camerons in this area of Canada. However,
my immigrant ancestor (Angus Cameron b. abt 1829) resided, married, and
raised a family in Prince Edward Island before moving to Kittson County, MN.
We have never found any of his siblings and have had difficulty tracing any
of his life prior to 1849 when he married Nancy Ladner. Could he be related
to any of yours that lived/settled in Ontario? Stacie, when you get time
during this busy season could you glance and see if he happens to be listed
in your book? Angus' death certificate stated that his parents names were
Duncan and Mary Cameron and that he was born in Scotland. Again, all very
common Scottish names.
This is definitely one of the brick walls for our family researchers.

P.s. Stacie, in your message you stopped short of saying that this John
Cameron was a loyalist, but our Angus married Nancy Ladner whose ancestors
were indeed loyalists. Maybe this is pretty common too but I thought it was
interesting.
