Marriage record from Fayette CO, IL 21 Feb 1859
Joseph W. Hallford and Sarah Jane Cameron, both by consent, married 21 Feb.
1859 by C.J. Houts, MG. L.F. Stoddard gave consent. She was his adopted
daughter. Book Old A p. 60, l. 21.
These notes in package: Ramsey, 21st 1859. "Mr. Welch, Dear Sir: the
bearer, Mr. Joseph Halford and my adopted daughter Sarah Jane Cameron, wish
to get a license. Miss Sarah was given to me by her guardian five or six
years ago. She is yet under age, and her guardian is some distance off,
though it will be all right anyway. Give him license to marry her, and I
will see that there is no trouble on her side. Yours truly, L.F. Stoddard."
"Mr. Stoddard, to let you __ that we are not aposed (sic) to his
marriage. John B Wilson." John B. Wilson was stepfather of Joseph w.
Halford. Wilson married Elizabeth Sears Halford, widow of Wm. Smith Halford.
I have tried to connect Sarah Jane Cameron Halford to the Fayette County
Cameron families without success. L.F. Stoddard was a native of either New
Hampshire, or Vermont.
I do have information on the Sears family of Fayette Co. IL.
I would appreciate any information on Sarah Jane Cameron's parents.

Subject: Re: [CAMERON] Sarah Jane Cameron (1840 - 1927)
Please, if you have the information, share her children's names. I have two
Sarah Cameron's in my line...a mother and a daughter, the mother played
silent piano for the movies in California early in the century..the daughter
I'm not sure about. My Cameron line is a mess to be sure from so many
marriages, disastors and divorces, but I've been tracking the Sarah Cameron
name for a while. If you have the children's names it would be helpful. My
line started in Streator, Illinois in 1881 when they came from Lanarchy,
Scotland. They migrated to Oklahoma, and then some into California. I'm
willing to share all I have, but don't want to encourage anyone falsely.
Thanks for sharing your info. Sunny (azuredaze@
