Hi there everyone. I received a nice welcome to the Cameron list/digest
thru email and would like to say thank you and also introduce myself.
My name is Carol Bieser Groover and I live in Locust Grove, Ga.
The main reason I have subscribed is my search for my grgrgr
grandmother, Harriet Angeline G. Burr that married JAMES K. ALLISON in
Monmouth, Warren Co., Ill. on Aug. 5,1850. The next item I found on
them was in the 1860
Census of Clarksville, Mercer Co., PA. which showed that she was born in
PA. The age shown proved to be the first of several discrepancies in
her age so let's just say she was born between 1824 and 1828. By 1860,
they had three children, Sarah J., Andrew H., and Emma A. Allison. In
other records, there was evidence of another birth (which is my
connection with this family), a MARY ELIZABETH ALLISON born in 1861.
James died during the Civil War while being held prisoner by the Union
Army in Richmond, Virginia. After his death Harriet Angeline G. Burr
Allison married Roderick Cameron on July 4, 1865 in Sharon, Mercer Co.,
PA. Sometime between 1865 and 1866, Roderick, Harriet and three of her
four children (Emma never appears in any records except the 1860 Census)
moved to Illinois where Harriet applied for James Allison's Civil War
Pension.
During the next couple of years the Camerons had two sons, Edward and
William. The family of 7 were in Monmouth, Warren Co., Illinois Census
of 1870. From there they moved to Platte Co., MO, Sedgewick Co, KS and
then to St. Joseph, MO. This is where I last found any trace of the
Camerons and that was in the 1920 Census.
Family history tells of how Harriet Cameron lived to be 103 years old.
If that is true then she could have lived up until around 1930.
If anyone could offer any information to help me in my search, I would
be very happy. Thank you for your time, Carol Groover
