Hi and thanks for your reply! Also thanks for the tip on the estate
registers, didn't know about these.
This is really infuriating, I'm sure there must be a connection
between my Camerons even if they weren't closely related, especially
as my GGG grandfather Hugh was a shepherd at Glensheildaig in the
1841 census, and your family had lived there until just a few years
before.
Apart from Fortingall, I've got established connections with all the
other places you mention and have Maclennan, Mackay and Macraes too!
Plus you have a Florence and I have a Flora, very similar and not
traditional Cameron names either. My Hugh also ended up on the Isle
of Skye, again a bit of a coincidence as as far as I'm aware there
was no previous connection.
Have you ever had a connection with an estate in Lochcarron parish
called New Kelso? My John was a shepherd there from at least 1812
until sometime between 1832 and 1835.
Will keep digging and maybe in a few years I'll solve this one!
