Donald Cameron, killed March 1809, Lot 21, Concession 4, Finch Township, while completing
his log cabin, 'went north' to Finch Township in 1808(not 1814 as stated in
Belden Atlas)with his brother, Allan. They were the sons of John and Mary Cameron, Lot 5,
4 Cornwall.
1) Mrs. Elizabeth Ferguson Blair(now deceased)(at one time genealogist for the United
Empire Loyalist Assoc.), and her relatives, produced a genealogical manuscript c
1986--"Cameron Saga", wherein they wrongly claimed descent from Donald Cameron,
killed March 1809, Lot 21, Conc. 4, Finch Township.
2) Mr. Duncan MacDonald produced a booklet of Charts, c 1995, re Camerons, wherein, Chart
17, Page 66, was copied directly from the Abstract for Lot south half, 12, Conc. 3, Finch
Township, wherein the "Donald Cameron and Janet Cameron" were alive 1879(See
date of Instrument for said property) along with others mentioned on Chart 17.
The Cameron family on Lot s half 12, Conc. 3 Finch Township, were related to the Cameron
family(descended from Donald Cameron, mig. 1802 from Kenmore, Scotland)Lot 15, Conc. 1,
Finch Township, known as 'the Donald Bans'. Alexander Cameron(of this family) had
a store in Finch Village c 1856. The family at Lot 12, s half, Conc. 3, Finch, were often
called 'The Black Alecks".
The man who drowned in the Payne River at Berwick did not own property on the sixth
concession in Finch Township.
