request for information on children of above
couple. The following might be of interest:
There were numerous 'Donald Camerons' who settled
within Stormont County, Ontario, but the above
mentioned Donald Cameron married Margaret Fraser
in 1781 while he was with the 84th Regiment of
the British Army. The marriage was performed by
the Reverend John Bethune, Chaplain for the
Regiment.
Margaret Fraser was the daughter of Donald
Fraser who had been a private in the first
battalion of the 84th Regiment. Donald Fraser
came to America fromScotland in 1775 and settled
in Tryon County, New York State [near Albany]. He
and his son, William, joined the King's Royal
Regiment of New York under Sir John Johnson at
the beginning of the revolution, later
transferring to the 84th. They were captured by
the rebels in 1778, and spent sixteen months in a
gaol in New England. After the revolution Donald
Fraser and his son, William, lived on Lot 15,
Concession 5, Cornwall Township, Stormont County.
Donald Cameron was the son of Angus Cameron, a
native of Scotland, who settled in Tryon County,
New York in 1773. Donald Cameron joined the
King's Royal Regiment of New York but later
transferred to the First Battalion of the 84th
Regiment, known as 'the Highland' Emigrants'.
After the American revolution Donald Cameron was
granted the following lands in Stormont County,
Ontario: Lot 35, Conc. 4, Roxborough Township;
the westerly three quarters of Lot 7, Concession
9, Cornwall Township; and, the east half of Lot
16, Concession 5, Cornwall Township. His father,
Angus Cameron, settled on Lot 16, Conc. 5,
Cornwall Township. Donald Cameron and Margaret
Fraser lived on the east half of Lot 16, Conc. 5,
Cornwall Township, next to the Frasers. Margaret
Fraser and Donald Cameron moved to Roxborough
Township c 1800. Donald Cameron purchased Lot 6,
Concession 1, Roxborough Townhip in 1819 and was
living there at the time of his death in
1822[Will]. Donald Cameron The following are the
children of Donald Cameron and Margaret Fraser:
1] Angus Cameron[the eldest son according to
Will] married Mary MacMillan. Angus was baptised
by Rev. John Bethune on May 23rd, 1791. He
married Mary MacMillan of Finch Township on
December 12th, 1809. Under his father's Will
Angus received w three quarters of Lot 7, Conc.
9, Cornwall Township. In 1833, he sold this land
and was living in Finch Township. He died c 1849.

(1) Donald Cameron, b Sept 17 1810. Donald, his
wife, Mary, and their family appear in the 1861
census for Finch Township, Lot 17, Conc. 2.

(4) John Cameron born March 17 1817
(5) Margaret Cameron married July 22nd 1845 to
Alexander MacMillan, son of John MacMillan[known
as 'Roman' John]and his wife, Catherine
MacMillan, sister to Angus MacMillan of
Callich[my ggg]Lot 20-1 Finch Township.
(6) Catherine Cameron born June 5th 1825
2] Charles Cameron was born c 1790 in Stormont
County. He was married to Jane Cameron of Finch
Township on September 15, 1818 at Trinity
Anglican Church, Cornwall, Ontario.
Charles Cameron and Jane Cameron moved to
Sydenham Township, Grey County, Ontario, c 1844,
on east half of Lot 2, Conc. B, Sydenham
Township. Charles died c 1869. Jane Cameron died
Feb. 23, 1889 in Sydenham Township. They had;
(1) Ann Cameron b Jan 29 1821
(2) Flora Cameron married Thomas Day, lived in Sydenham Township
(3) Donald Cameron b Apr. 23 1825
(4) Angus Cameron settled w half of Lot 2, Conc. B Sydenham Township.

3] Marjory Cameron married John MacLeod Feb 18, 1811.
4] Donald Cameron was born c 1792 in Stormont
County. He married Lucy MacMillan, the sister to
my gtgt grandfather, Archie John
MacMillan[[Callich]Lot 20, Conc. 3 Finch
Township]children of John MacMillan of
Callich[see book 'Bygone Lochaber by Somerled
MacMillan, page 80] Donald and Lucy were married
in 1817. During the 1830s, Donald and Lucy lived
at Lot 31, Conc. 3, Roxborough Township. In 1841,
Donald sold e half of this lot to his son in law
William MacMillan. Donald and Lucy were living at
e half of Lot 20, Con. C Sydenham Township c
1847. Donald sold this farm and moved to Lot 30,
Conc. 12, St. Vincent Township, Grey County,
Ontario. Both Donald and Lucy are buried in the
Johnstone Cemetery, Sydenham Township. Their
children were:
(1) Christy Cameron m. William MacMillan
(2) Ann Cameron married Duncan MacArthur, Lot 17,
Conc. 7, Collingwood, Grey County.
(3) Flora Cameron married Donald MacGregor
(4) Margaret Cameron married her cousin, William Cameron.
(5) John Cameron married his cousin, Isabella
Cameron, daughter of Alexander Cameron and his
wife, Emily MacPhail. c 1861 this family was
living on Lot 38, Conc. 12, St. Vincent Township.
They moved to Minnesota where Isabella Cameron
died.

Catherine McConnell of Nottawasaga Township.
(8) William Cameron b Feb 4 1839 married[March
10, 1864] in Owen Sound, Mary Cockburn, native of
Finch Township, daughter of Andrew Cockburn, and
his wife, Ann MacMillan.
(9) Mary Cameron married Ard Benedict of St. Vincent Township.
(10) Harriet Cameron married James Currie of Nottawasaga Township.
5] William Cameron married Oct. 17 1815 Margaret
MacPhail. They lived on Lot 4, w fifty acres,
Conc. 1.....Roxborough Township
6] Ann Cameron was baptised September 4 1796 by
Rev. John Bethune. She married John
MacMillan[brother to my gg, Archie John
MacMillan]on Jan 23, 1816 at Trinity Anglican
Church, Cornwall, Ontario[county town of SDandG].
They later moved to Sydenham Township, Grey
County, Ontario. In 1851 census they were living
on Lot 39, Conc. 9, St. Vicent Township. They had:
(1) Donald MacMillan married Isabella MacPhail.
Isabella MacPhail died Jan 30, 1916 and is buried
in Greenwood Cemetery, Owen Sound, Ontario.
(2) William MacMillan married Jane MacMillan[my
gt aunt]of Finch Township[Lot 20, Conc. 3 Finch
Township]. She was the daughter of my gg Archie
John MacMillan[Callich]Lot 20-3 Finch, and his
wife, Marjory MacMillan[daug. of Ewen, son of
Allan Glenpean] William died Oct 21, 1884 in
Sydenham Township, and gt aunt Jane MacMillan
died May 28, 1926 in Owen Sound and is buried in
Menary's Cemetery, Sydenham Township.
(3) Hugh MacMillan married his first cousin, my
gt aunt 'Little' Margaret MacMillan.
(4) Dougald MacMillan
(5) Harriet MacMillan married George MacKay of
St. Vincent township. Harriet died Mar 14 1922,
and is buried in Boyd's Cemetry, Keppel Township.
7] John Cameron was born c 1801 in Stormont
County. He married Isabella MacPhail of
Roxborough Township, they lived on the e half of
Lot 5, Conc. 1, Roxoborough Township. He sold
this propertly c 1847. They moved to Sydenham
Township, Lot 2, Conc. C Sydenham Township.
Later, they were living on Lot 13, Conc. A
Sydenham Township. They had the following
children:
(1) Ann Cameron, b Apr 19, 1823 married James Campbell Aug 3, 1845
(2) William Cameron bapt. Mar 4, 1825, Lot 3,
Conc. C Sydenham Township. Later moved to
Nebraska.
(3) Emily Cameron bapt Mar 16 1827, married John
MacMillan. Lived on s half of Lot 34, Conc. 1,
Sydenham Township.
(4) Elizabeth Cameron bap Mar 16 1827 married cousin, Donald MacLeod
(5) William Cameron bap June 14, 1831 of Lot 3,
Conc. C Sydenham Township. He married his cousin,
Margaret Cameron, daughter of Donald Cameron and
his wife, Lucy MacMillan. Later lived on Lots 2
and 3, Sydenham Township. William is buried in
St. Michael's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Sydenham
Township.
(6) Marjory Cameron, bapt. March 24 1833 married James Fife
(7) Alexander Cameron bapt Mar 29, 1835 married
Catherine MacInnis(formerly of Roxborough
Township). He died April 8 1924 in Owen Sound,
Ontario and is buried in Leith Cemetery.
(8) Jane Cameron b Jan 7, 1837 married Duncan
Lourie. They are buried in St. Michael's Roman
Catholic Cemetery. Sydenham Township.
8] Alexander Cameron was born in Stormont County
on June 14, 1803. He had the west half of Lot 35,
Conc. 4, Roxborough Township[his father's Will
1822], but he never received the land because his
father sold it to another party before his
death[1822]. Alexander Cameron married Emily
MacPhail and their family lived on the Cameron
farm at Lot 6, Conc. 1, Roxborough Township,
Stormont County, Ontario before moving to Grey
County. Alexander Cameron and his family appear
in the 1851 census living in St. Vincent
Township, Grey County. In 1854, Alexander was
killed by a falling tree while working in the
bush. The following are the children of Emily
MacPhail and Alexander Cameron:
(1) Elizabeth Cameron, bapt. Nov 2 1828 married
Alfred Hackett. They lived at Wiarton, Ontario.
(2) Isabella Cameron married her cousin, John
Cameron, son of Donald Cameron and his wife, Lucy
MacMillan[my gg aunt]. She died in Minnesota.
(3) Margaret Cameron bapt. July 28, 1835, married
Hugh (Ewen) MacLeod son of Roderick MacLeod and
his wife, Mary MacMillan on July 28, 1858.
(4) Catharine Cameron bapt. Sept. 6, 1838 married
Edward Bannon Nov. 23 1868. This family moved to
Nanton, Alberta.
(5) Angus Cameron married Jane MacLean. They
farmed in Sarawak Township near East Linto. Died
Nov 13, 1908. Buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Owen
Sound, Ontario.
(6) Nancy Cameron married twice: 1) to George
Breen and later to Samuel Trethewey of Keppel
Township.
(7) Marjory Cameron never married. Died April 1931 in Owen Sound.
(8) Donald Cameron married his cousin, Christina
Cameron, daughter of Alexander Cameron and his
wife, Catharine MacInnis.
9] Archibald Cameron was born May 27 1806 in
Stomont County He had w half of Lot 6, Conc. 1,
Roxborough Township[father's Will 1822].
Archibald sold this land in 1836.
I descend from another Donald Cameron who settled
on Lot 21, Conc. 4, Finch Township, no relation
to the above Cameron family except through my
MacMillan line.
