Hi!
My great-great-great Grandfather John Brown apparently played the "Pipes of
Culloden" at the laying of the cornerstone of the first Parliament Buildings in 1860.
I have looked for this tune on various CD's but have not found it. I wonder if the
lyrics you mention are from this song. This sounds like a mystery that only Scott can
solve!

I have not been able to trace my grandmother's Cameron family from
Pictou at all. I have come across others who also heard from their relatives the story of
a "lady-in-waiting to Queen Victoria who eloped". After that bare fact, the
versions of the story differ wildly. Our Camerons seem to have dropped out of the sky.
My grandmother also used to sing a song that her father sang to her, full of rage against
the English, about the battle of Culloden. I can recall only a snatch of it:
"Fly, Donald, Fly Donald, down the glen.........(tum tum te tum)
........the king's men"
Has anyone the lyrics, please?
Thank you.
Anne
