Hello,
I've subbed to this list to relay the following message of interest,
hopefully, to a Cameron family from Scotland.
A few weeks ago I attended an estate auction in central Indiana, where some
photos of a Hammer family were included in the sale. If interested, a
proven Cameron, McLeod, or Hammer family member from either the USA or
Scotland may pay postage and receive the photos and a miniature boot made
our of horn, missing its lid, which says, "Alex Bigg, shoe maker." This
boot beloged to David C Hammer.
Identies of some individuals and groups from Inverness are unknown. Photos
inclue "Dear brother David" from Inverness, c 1896, Cousin Ann Cameron from
Aberdeen, 2 photos of Kate (LNU) from Inverness, a group of office workers
(prob Scotland) c 1919, 2 girls (prob Scotland), "Mother" (prob Scotland),
unnamed young woman, and Marie McLeod (prob Scotland.)
Identities of the Indianapolis Hammers are often included. There were
brothers David and Douglas Hammer. Photos of a Russell (prob Hammer) are
from Greenup IL and Irvington, (prob Indianapolis.)
Two photos are of a married couple. The earlier photo shows the man in
uniform c WW 2. This photo was taken by a Tuscaloosa photographer. The
later photo of this couple, then middle-aged, was taken in Indianapolis.
