This is the first time I have posted anything on the list.
WELCOME!
I am most interested tracing the ancestors of my Grandfather, Francis James Cameron, born
out of wedlock in Midmar Aberdeenshire on or about 7 December 1882.
If his birth cert doesn't name the father, there is a chance that a Baptism record
does. Or Kirk Session records.
His mother was Margaret Christie born at Cluny Aberdeenshire on the 4th March 1862. Her
parents were Francis Christie and Isabella Collie married in Cluny, Aberdeenshire, 24
February 1856.
It should be possible to prove the ancestries of Francis and Isabella by stepping backward
in time via the respective Deaths and Marriages. Enjoy!
Margaret Christie is listed as living at Green of Raemoir, Banchory
Ternan, Kincardine in the 1881 census.......
As you would know, she was a servant in a ROSS household and there was a servant named
James Cameron in the same house, their ages 19 and 18. Remembering my own young days of
good health I suspect that the magnetism would have been quite powerful.
In the same Parish there were only two other James Camerons in 1881. One aged 5 and the
other aged 48, a married man. He was a carpenter which tends to be a mobile occupation.
It seems to me there are two "suspects" to focus on. The Kirk Session having
failed to procure a marriage for Margaret, I tend to suspect her father was the married
James Cameron, he had a child bn in 1881.
Cheers.........
