Hello Everyone,
My name is Jackie McMinn, I live in Alabama, as most of my
ancestors did, at least going back to my GGGrandparents. I'm a 56 yr. old
male, I have a wife for 29 yrs., whose name is Charley Ann Ross McMinn, and a
24 yr. old son, Jason Ross McMinn.
I'm seriously involved in genealogy because of a deceased aunt
of mine, Dorothy McMinn Megaris, who was a member of the NGS, and spent at
least l5 to 20 years of searching, telephoning, writing, and taking trips ,
and later became an officer in the orginazation. She left me with a lot of
material, and I'm trying to pick up where she left off.
Susan Cameron was my GGGrandmother, she was born in SC, abt
1837, and the information I am giving you was passed on by her son, George
Washington McMinn, to his 14 children. She married Andrew McMinn on 3/2/1855
(I have copy of certificate), they had two sons, and I don't know which was
the first born, but one drowned at an early age, however, George W. was born
in TN, on 4/2/1858
Andrew and Susan divorced sometime later, no date found, but
George W. passed it on to his children that his father remarried and raised
another family. No trace has yet been found of him or his other family.
Susan remained in Madison Co., Huntsville, AL. with her son
George until her death in abt 1880. I have no record where she is buried, but
there is a cemetery, on the property they lived, where George and a daughter
have tombstones, and several more unmarked graves are there. It is named
Stewart Cemetery, and is located on the East side of Madison Co., near the TN
River
I hope I've shared some interesting and useful information, and
I will certainly look forward to receiving the same from someone.
God Bless, Good Hunting,
Jackie McMinn
