Marlene, one of my Cameron ancestors "left Scotland on the ship THE PEARL in
1773 and headed for America, where they settled in the Mohawk Valley near
Schenectady, New York as a tenent of Sir William Johnson."
quoted from 1001 Name Index of The Descendants of John Cameron "The Wise" by
Alex W. Fraser, U.E.
I also descend from Alex Cameron (? - 1796) and Jean Grant (1724 Schenectady,
New York - 1809) [Jean's mother was Anne Cameron-no close relation]. Alex
and Jean Grant Cameron's daughter Anne (Nancy) Cameron married John Roy
Cameron (1786 - 1841) who is the grandson of John Cameron "The Wise".
These families had to leave New York and move to Ontario, Canada after the
American Revolution. "They rooted and or fought for the losing team"
