Hi Colette,
My family came from Glengarry and my gggrandfather left there Kenyon Lot 11
Con 3. and came to Minnesota in 1867. His eldest son, my ggrandfather went to
North Dakota where he fathered my Grandfather. He married and later my Father
was born there as well. My Dad left ND and went to Oregon and then Spokane in
1961. I was born in OR. and came to Spokane when I was 1. I have lived here
now for 42 years. I have no other known relation here other than an Aunt
(Dads sister).
I would love to hear more about your Glengarry family. Do you know where
they lived?
Thanks,
Dean Cameron
Dean,
I am sorry to use this to respond but I lost your message asking about the
Cameron history called Westward They Came. I first heard about it at New
Salem, IL when people mentioned it to me. John Miller Cameron was one of
the founders and an owner of the grist mill there. I have asked around
about it and nobody seems to know if there are more copies. I tried to
contact the three ladies who put it together but have had no luck. Somebody
gave me a copy. It is very interesting. I don't know where you can find
out about it--you might contact the New Salem place in Illinois. They have
historians who might be able to tell you. I wish I knew more. I am a
descendant of Thomas and Nancy Miller Cameron who are buried in Old Totten
Cemetery near Smithfield, IL and have visited the cemetery there. I took
pictures of the graves while there.
