Yikes!!
I went to look at the film today for the Glengarry Census information. I
thought it was for Kenyon TWP only.
It was for all of Glengarry!!
I paid to keep the film there forever so that once and a while I might be
able to go do some research for my Cameron cousins on this list.
If you need me too however you WILL need to give me Township info as well as
other members of the family and / or birthdates. There at 1000's of
Cameron's in these census records.
I found my "family of interest." As always the information seemed to be
inaccurate. It was fun nonetheless.
In the 1851 Census it lists:
NAME OCCU. RELIGION BIRTH Or. Age
next b-day
John Cameron Farmer R/C F?? 44
Flory McDonald W " "
40
Ewen Cameron Lab " "
12
Donald Cameron " " "
10
John Cameron " " "
8
Janet Cameron " "
6
Alexander Cameron " "
4
Catherine Cameron " "

It states that they lived in a 1 story Log Home. It also states that they
lived on Lot#11 Con 4 Kenyon (as do the St. Rapheals records that I have).
I am thinking that the birthplace "F" is for French Canada.
I still have the birth year discrepancy for John Cameron, Jr.
In the 1861 Census records things are a little different:
NAME OCCU Born Religion Age
last b-day
John Cameron Farmer C.W R.C. 52
Flora Cameron W " "
51
William Cameron S " " 23
(not in 1851)
Ewen Cameron S " " 21
Donald Cameron S " " 19
John Cameron S " " 17
Janet Cameron D " " 15
Alexander Cameron S " " 13
Catherine Cameron D " " 10
The interesting thing is that they are in Con "3" Lot #11 Kenyon in this
census. (This info agrees with Bob Cameron).
The ages are all one year off from 1851 with the exception of John, Sr. and
Flory. I believe the birth origin of C.W. stands for Canada West.
Along with this info. the records have a farm census that lists all of the
details of the persons farm. I have a list for this family that states how
many cows, horses, pigs they have. It also states the amount of land they
are farming, what their farming and much, much more.
I still need to prove the connection to my John J. Cameron. I will keep
trying.
Smile and Happy Easter,
Dean Cameron
