Doctor Dies
Dr. Alexander E. Kennedy,
78, Mabou, Succumbs, After General Illness.
Mabou, Jan. 8 - A veteran and popularly known Cape Breton physician, Dr.
Alexander E. Kennedy, 78, died at his residence here today after an
illness of several weeks.
................................Died Fortnight Ago
His wife predeceased him a little more than a fortnight ago.
Retiring from active practice a year ago because of declining health Dr.
Kennedy served the people of the Mabou district and Inverness County
generally for the past 45 years, and was loved by everyone.
Deep sorrow has been manifested over his passing, as he was an excellent
type of citizen, kind, honorable and courteous and endowed with many
fine qualities which endured him to the people of the district particularly.
Born at Kenlock, Broad Cove parish, he was a son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Angus Kennedy.
His wife was the former Catherine CAMERON, daughter of the late Dr. Hugh
Cameron, M.P., for Inverness County for many years.
................................Surviving Relatives
Surviving are one brother, Michsel Kennedy, Kenlock; one sister Mrs.
John A. McLellan, Inverness.
Nephews include, Rev. FR. Michsel MacCormick, East Bay; J. R.
MacCormick, Halifax, former Sydney Police Chief; John A. Gillis,
merchant, Inverness;
nieces are, Mrs. John A. MacDonald, matron of the Mabou County Hospital;
Mrs. Ronald MacDonald, Port Hood, who attended him in his final illness.
................................Funeral Friday
The funeral will take place on Friday morning at nine o'clock, and Mass
of Requiem will be celebrated by FR. MacCormick.
