Malcolm (b. Oct. 27, 1834 d. May 13, 1911) my gr, gr grandfather, Alexander (1837 - ). My
family, namely Malcolm Cameron, my great, great grandfather, with his family, emigrated
from the Isle of Tiree in 1851 settling in Guelph, Ontario and then on to Bruce Township
- 11th Concession, Lot 12, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada in 1854 settling in a one storey
log home. Malcolm and his wife Sarah / Marion (nee: McLean, from Tiree 1851, July 1,
1832 - July 4, 1913) were married in 1854. They were Baptist and spoke Gaelic. Malcolm
was the first clerk of the North Bruce Baptist C!
hurch. Malcolm's parents, Donald (July 1804 - July 19, 1988) and Euphemia /Eva /
Effie (1800 - April, 20, 1885) came to Bruce Township in their later years appearing in
the 1881 census, living at 10th Concession, Lot 11. Charles Cameron (1800 - 1887), a
widower and possibly a brother of Donald lived at the same residence. Malcolm and Sarah
had seven children, Donald, Hugh, Mary Ann, Archibald, Mary, Charles (my gr. grandfather)
and Rebecka. Charles had four sons, Hugh, Charles (my grandfather), James and Archibald.
For more information on the Cameron family read Bruce Township - Tales and Trails - with
supplement - 1997 - The Township of Bruce Historical Society. At the Iodhlann, on Isle of
Tiree, are books on Bruce County that my parents, Jim (son of Charles) and Jean Cameron of
London, Ontario, Canada, gifted to the Iodhlann after their visit to Isle of Tiree in
1998. My gr, gr, grandfather Malcolm Cameron's obituary in the March 23, 1911

sley, Ontario, Canada reads....."Deceased came from Scotland (Isle of Tiree) in
1851 and settled in Guelph, thence to Bruce Township in 1854".... Malcom and Sarah
Cameron and other ancestors buried in Sanctuary Cemetary, Pt. Elgin, Ontario, Canada.
Clan Cameron will be the featured clan at the Fergus Highland Games in August, 2003. Any
