To Marlene and anyone else interested: You can search birth, marriage, death
records and the 1891 census records by going into the following location:
http://www.open.gov.uk/gros/faq.htm
There is a fee of 6 pounds (about $12 US) for 30 pages of lookups.
I usually look in 10 year spans if I have a definite name and unsure of
date. The site takes credit cards and is supposed to be a secure location.
To date, I have had no problems. I have not done it in over 6 months, so if
anyone else out there has any suggestions, please do not hesitate to
suggest.
Also, if you have a Family History Center (Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
Church Library, aka Morman Church), you can do a lot of research there for
free before going to this site. It is available to anyone and no one will
bother you to try and get you to join the church. I have gone for many years
to the library in our area.
Good luck in your searching.
