JOHN D. CAMERON
PICTOU, March 27 - The death occurred at an early hour this morning
of John David Cameron
at his home on Elliott Street after a five days illness. He was 79
years of age.
For the past eighteen years he had been a resident of the town.
Mr. Cameron was born at Salt Springs, Pictou county, a son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Cameron.
The greater part of his active life was spent in New York where for
many years he was a member of
the police force. He retired some twenty-five years ago and came to
Pictou with his family to reside
eighteen years ago.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, John Robert, New York
City, and four daughters,
Jessie, Mrs. Louis Spinning, East Orange, N.J.,
Mrs. L.B. Herrett, Springhill, N.S.,
Frances, R.N., Bronx hospital, New York,
and Ruth, at home.
He also leaves one brother, Daniel R. Cameron, Scotsburn, and six sisters,
Miss Elizabeth Cameron, Mrs. James Stewart, Mrs. Marion Sutherland,
New Glasgow,
Mrs. Christine MacLeod, Berkeley, Calif., and the Misses Julia and
Charlotte Cameron, Lethbridge, Alberta.
The funeral will be held from the home Friday afternoon with his
pastor, Rev. A. F. MacKenzie
of Pictou United church officiating. Interment will be in
Saltspring's cemetery.
