Hello all
I've come upon info I'd like to share.
In 1716 Baltimore Co Md
John "General" Cammeron purchases land called "Hog Point"
same year he marries at St John Parish Balt Co Md
Margaret Macintosh widow of Daniel
She dies 1Jan1719
he remarries 1720 at St John's
to Sarah Crofford/Crawford
they have 1 known child
Absalom Cameron b 1737
Absalom marries 1761 St John Parish
to Sarah Beaver/BEAMER (?SP)
Absalom moves pre 1763 to NC (appears in 1768 Cumberland NCtax list)
but returns in 1763 to sell Hog Point and is stated in papers as "Of NC"
and depositions name him as son of John and Esther Cameron. (an error)
Absalom is not son of Esther.
She is the 3rd wife of General John
and actually mother 2 at least 2 siblings of Absalom.
The siblings are
Tamar/Tamer Cameron b 1738 of St John Parish Balt Co Md.
and John Martin Cameron.
John Martin Cameron b. 1742 of St John Parish
is the John Cameron who begins the Rowan/Davidson line of Camerons
he married in St John a Mary Brown b. 1743.
Tamer Cameron married a James Horner in 1760 St John and remains living
in Harford Md.
So this would mean that at least a portion of the Cumberland Camerons
would be connected back to John Cameron of Baltimore County Md.
I would very much like to compare notes with anyone who feels their anc. from
Cumberland may be from this line.
Thom Cameron

Hi Jeanie, Yes we have talked and I had high hopes that yours was the information I
needed. However, since
then I have found out beyond much doubt that my Daniel was born in Virginia. I have one
of his sons, Allen,
on the 1850 census as well as the death notice of another son, William, and they both list
both parents as
having been born in Virginia so that's that. I have come to the conclusion that
Daniel, like a mushroom,
just sprang up. Thanks anyway. Mary

I too have been seeking information about the father of a James C.
Cameron. But my James was born in Giles County, Tennessee in 1826. I'm fairly
certain that his father was a Daniel Cameron b. in Virginia sometime between
1780-1790. I was wondering if you had ever gotten any info on him as a
result of your search. Thanks very much. Mary Conley My e-mail is
