My gt uncle, Alexander MacMillan, was Mayor of LaCrosse Wisconsin at
one time, and the MacMillan Block in LaCrosse was named for the
family. He owned the Black River Logging Company and had the first
log raft down the Mississippi. He was born in Finch Township,
Stormont County, the son of Duncan Ban MacMillan[my gtgt through my
grandmother Cameron]born Glennevis, Scotland 1783, died Finch Lot
south half 23, Conc. 3, Finch Township in 1861[Will]. Duncan Ban was
married to Mary MacMillan[born 1794 Achnacarry, Scotland]daughter of
Angus MacMillan of Callich[see book "Bygone Lochaber" page 81] who
settled on Lot 20, Conc. 1, Finch Township.
The Cameron who settled at what was later called 'Cameron Wisconsin'
was of the Clunes family, Lot 6, Conc. 1, Stormont County, Cornwall
Township, Ontario.
Margaret Cameron
