Hello Chris
Actually the eldest name I have for certain is John Cameron b. 1740 as I
wrote earlier
Why I imply there could easily be a link back thru Moore NC to Harnett and
back to the Cape Fear area
is the trading trail I spoke of earlier also.
John of course was probably the most used Cameron name and that compounds
the issue.
The key name I use is Absalom Cameron who is the son of John (1st I suspect)
and I have found an older Absalom listed on a 1750s tax list
and also a simultaneous listing of an Absalom Cameron in both Rowan and I'm
thinking Moore NC.
In all my looking I've found all the Cameron's in Rowan/Davidson to be of 1
family line from John of 1740.
It has been widely believed (even a book I believe) the Barbeque Cameron's
were Ulster Scots.
Thus I theorize at least one clan(mine) moved further into NC.
The names I know of are Abel Lloyd, John of course, James, William, and
Absalom which is used at least 3 generations.
It just occurs to me that I have always thought of the 2 Cameron's in 1790
Rowan NC census as Father/Son
this being John and Absalom since John b. 1740 doesn't die till 1807
and Absalom is old enough to be married and a son b. in 1788
but in reality it could be brothers
I just have a huge brick wall in front of me right now.
Awaiting your input
Thom C.

area or a list at all. I will send you shortly my names when I gather
them
up.
thanks,
Chris
