Thom I believe we have talked before. My Cameron was Archibald W
Cameron b 1812 N.C. I have believed for a long time that he belonged
some way to John "Merchant" Cameron as John had a son name Allen that
was in Choctaw Co Ms at the same time as our Archibald and died about
the same time there. I have never been able to put him with that
family. but I do think some way he is related to that family. John had
two or three sons that no one has info them as to who there children
were. as far as I know. I am interested in Archibalds parents and
siblings I have the descendents and he married a daughter of a Ms.
Choctaw Indian. b 1816 Ga. Thanks
Rena

Hello
I also am researching Cameron's of NC
Actually I have a well defined line in Rowan/Davidson starting earlier
than
1790.
Here's where I'd like some help.
Within 50 miles of my oldest Anc John Cameron b. 1740 (proven by
headstone)
there seems to be about 5 other John Cameron's all within the same 1790
census.
I would like to see if anyone would like to help thru these various
Johns.
So far there seems to be John "merchant", John "Beaver Creek" John
"Governors Creek" and I'm certain of more.
My John ( whom I name "Lick Creek" John") is uncannily similar to what
is
know of John Merchant.
Same birth date
Same naming patterns of sons and gr-sons
and more similarities I'd like to compare.
I feel they maybe the same person
but another researcher claims Merchant left the Colonies
because he would not sign a loyalty oath.
I'm interested in proving this or disproving
Another researcher says that since my Clan virtually lived on top of
the
great wagon trail
they were likely Scot-Irish from Pa via Va since the Piedmont was
inaccessible from the coast.
Recently I find a well established path inland from Cape Fear early
enough
for
it not to be a "stretch" that my line is the Barbeque line and
ultimately
from the Ulster Scots
who landed in 1739.
I'm asking anyone interested in the Cameron's of NC to add anything
they
feel is relevant.
Thank You all in advance
