Hi Kathryn...my Cameron's are from NB (Black River just outside of Chatham).
For searching in BC go to the British Columbia Archives website and then go into
'vital statistics'. As with most search systems the less information you put in,
the greater chance you have of obtaining a result. So even though you know thier full
names and date of death, just put in Cameron and the year of death. You might get 30
Cameron's. The reason that I suggest putting in less information is because the
person who submitted the information, may have had thier first and second name reversed,
used a nick name, or even used Initials. This way it avoids all the hassel. It will give
you a bunch of numbers. You can request a copy of the form but ask for the LONG form..its
the one that gives you all the detailed information that you may or may not have. You can
do this for thier son as well if he died in BC.
Also there is a BC Cemetery Finding Aid which is a great help, but it doesn't have all
the cemeteries in it. Many times on the Long Form it will state the cemetery or the
funeral home and you can approach both of them and request a copy of all the information
that they have. Which can be a gold mine! One person I was searching, they had a list of
the cost of all the 'stuff' that they bought including socks and that he was taken
to the grave yard in a glass horse drawn carriage. Great information.
And just in case you are not from Canada, the 1901 and 1911 census is online
