Hi, It was definitely Cumberland County. There was no Harnett County
until 1850. They could have lived in Cumberland County in the area that was
later to become Harnett County. You can find records in both places. They
were most likely married in the area they lived in because it was a long
trip for them to go into Fayetteville. I feel, and we will see what I can
find to prove this, that they were Harnett County residents and were married
in Harnett County but it was called Cumberland County at the time they were
married. Oh, something else to keep in mind is that Harnett County was
formed in 1850 from Cumberland County. Also, keep in mind that Lee County
was formed from part of Harnett County in 1914. These folks lived in the
western part of Harnett County and it was part of the western part that Lee
County was formed from. This is a lot but you may find records of your
people in all three counties. Do you know where Allan and Catherine were
buried? This Catherine McLean is possibly, and I do mean possibly because I have
to really check into this, a descendant of William Salmon of the western
part of Harnett County as one of his daughters married a McLean. I have to
go to the library and find the listing of the other set of Camerons to see
if your people on listed there. Are you trying to find the parents of Allan
J. Cameron?

Hi Marie,
I found an old email of yours to me:
From you: I keep saying I have to get ready for this trip but cannot
put
this Cameron file down. I have found a sheet which is a copy of marriage
records but unfortunately does not list the county. On the sheet is
listed
Allan J Cameron and Catherine McLean married on 21 Sep 1834. The Bondsman
was Daniel Monroe and the witness was Archd McLean, Jr. Bond No.
000031575.
There was a Daniel Monroe in Cumberland County so I still strongly believe
that they were married in Cumberland County. This would have been
Fayetteville, North Carolina. The Archibald McLean, Jr. listed was
probably
Catherine's brother or father. If it was the brother we would know the
father's name too since he is a Jr.
Will write more when I return.
Marie
