Hello:
There was a Dr. Archibald CAMERON b 1707 in Inverness-shire and I
won't go into the history but you can find it by looking up Battle of
Culloden. I am not saying this is your branch but it is a source of
the name. His wife's father was Archibald Cameron 1st of Dungallon
according to the information on him. The Dr Archibald was the son
of the 18th Chief of Clan Cameron named John. That Archibald was the
brother of the 19th Chief, Donald and also of John of Fassiefern.
There was another Archibald b 14th October, 1774 b Berwick on Tweed
to Charles CAMERON. 21st CHIEF LOCHIEL. It does sem hardly possible
to unravel the Camerons. The given names often perpetuate from one
generation to the next and it is mind-boggling! If you search some of
the military muster rolls of the revolution, you may find something.
Also there were Cameron prisoners who werre sent to America as
elsewhere, even to the Carolinas. I cannot fine that info at the
moment but I have read it in my searche!
s. So there are lots of possibilities out there. I am searching for
the parentage of one Charles CAMERON who has left no paper trail. I
have his time as a drummer Boy on the 26th 0f Foots from 1790 to 1800
in Quebec. and his life after dischareg which was in Ontario and all
subsequent family and descendants but I cannot gey beyond 1783. Good
luck to all of us and especially to you. Sorry I cannot be of more
help. Delphine
