Hi, Cousin Camerons. I was trying to find some info on Boston Harbor
because that's where my grandparents and mother landed from Scotland in the
1920's. In thinking of this, I remembered that they stayed with my
grandfather's (George Cameron Bisset) uncle, James D Cameron (which I'm sure
stands for Donald because his mother was Ann Donald), in either Roxbury or
Dorchester. Great Grand Uncle James's occupation (and I can't remember how
I found this out) was an altar maker - apparently he carved altars, or maybe
painted them. It had something to do with altars. I believe he had a wife
and some children but I don't have that info (one of those stupid things
where you are told something and say you'll write it down later and then
forget to write it down and then it's too late). My grandfather came to
this country from Carnoustie in 1925 and then in 1926 my grandmother (Louisa
Josephine Pirie Bisset) and mother (Avril Baillie Bisset) came, all living
with Uncle Jim for some time. At one time I wrote to the Boston Library to
see if they had an obit for James D. Cameron and they did not. Jim would
have been around 67 when my grandfather came to Boston. How I wish I had
picked my grandfather's brain when he was alive, and the same for my
grandmother. Lost opportunities.....does James D. Cameron of Boston ring a
bell with anyone, especially one connected somehow with altars?
Thanks, Anne Godfrey

I don't know if your Cameron line is any relation or not,but I'm trying to find the parents of Lewis "Ludwig" Cameron who was born abt 1770 or so and his parents came down from Canada to Southwest Pennsylvania and left him behind as they left him with another family and went back up north.Family says Lewis was from Scotland.

When you're reading a message, under the heading (title) you'll see a sub-heading entitled "Author:" . Clicking on the author's name will take you to a page that lists that person's e-mail address and every post s/he has made to RootsWeb's boards.
Accessing a person's e-mail address this way makes it much less susceptible to spammers.

Hi,
I am looking for information about the parents and siblings of Gilbert Cameron born circa 1854 in Glasgow.
I know that he had at least one brother Charles born 1861.
In the 1881 Census they are living at 13 Muir St, West Ham, Essex ( RG11 Piece 1717 Folio 9 Page 13)
In the 1890's they emigrated to the USA.
Any information about them would be greatly appreciated.TIA.
Best wishes
Kevin
