This sounds like it could be my gggf. My ggf Alexander Allan Cameron emigrated from New Zealand to Patagonia. I thought he came around 1869 but it could have been later. He was 19 when he emigrated. His father was John Cameron and I know they originated from Ardnamurchan. If this matches your information I could provide more info regarding descendants. I'd appreciated any info regarding his ancestors. Thanks.

I recently found 2 letters written by Ross J. Cameron sent to his family member, Doris Duncan. Both letters are asking for genealogy info. They are dated Jan.1969 and Feb.1969. His address is Lamar, MO and Doris's address is Everton, MO. Some of the surnames mentioned are: Duncan, Cameron, Lee,Fuller and Widick. Some of the places mentioned are: Grainger, CO, TN and Lawrence Co, MO. I thought someone might recognize these names and want a copy of the letters. I don't have a scanner but if someone is interested, I would be more than happy to snail mail them for you. I am not related to these people. I just hate to see info like this being wasted.

Thank you, however, I am just trying to assist those I come in contact with to locate their relatives. I am actually looking for John Cameron of Scotland (ggg grandfather of my husband, John Ewen Cameron). There is a Sophia Cameron, with whom we have hit a brickwall. She is the mother of John Cameron and we have nothing else, as she died when he was 7 or so.
I am trying to assist two in their searches for Peter Cameron and Christina Cameron. Julie

Ladies, I would be more than happy to correspond with you about any of my Cameron family. My e-mail is young98gspf(a)earthlink.net, but I do not have anyone with the name of Peter in my family.
Thanks, and I will check it but I don't think he died in the war; I
believe he must have died in the early 20's, of, I'm sure, something to do
with the War (I have a Norwegian great uncle who had immigrated to the US
and he was in the "Lost Battalion" in france. He also died in the early to
mid 20's because of mustard gas. Maybe Peter had the same thing.

An Index booklet was published by the late Peter Pledger and [I think] a colleague. I have no copy but there is a partial photocopy in the library of Clan Cameron NSW but I think that only the surnames CAMERON got photocopied. Peter's printing costs [a home inkjet printer etc] cost him more than the selling price..... HOORAH FOR VOLUNTEERS!
Volunteers at the CAMERON BARRACKS in Inverness city Scotland, can probably help you.

I am sure you are right. My late mother was from Sheffield and my later father from Inverness, many Scots moved to W Yorkshire and the first motor van I saw in Sheffield was sign written on the side CAMERON MEATS.

My father had BISSET ancestors in Muir of Ord, parish Urray, ROC. The Regiment is amalgamated with others and the uniform has a little CAMERON tartan component. Defunct is a word I dislike, we have a continuation rather that a termination.

I'm glad you wrote back. I just heard from someone I want you to be intouch with. Her name is Jane Wood and she is in Canada, researching Christina, as well. Here is the text from her email to me tonight (right after yours). I plan to send you both what I have as soon as I can export it.

Hello Julie: I would very much appreciate any information you can give me. Christina Cameron(my gg grandmother, b 1823) is a brick wall at the moment. I have some information about Peter, but not much, so would love to find out more about both of them.
If there is anything I can help you with in return, I will certainly try. I currently don't have a William in my files, but can check a few places here in New Brunswick. Thank you!
Jane
Hi, Lists. I had a great uncle, Peter Bisset from Carnoustie, I believe, who during WWI was in the Cameron Highlanders. I would like to try to get some information about him. He was my grandfather's brother and since he died so young, no one had much information for me. My grandmother told me her brother-in-law married "a woman named Bertha from Sheffield" and that they had a son who died as an infant. I would assume Sheffield was in England, because I've never heard of a Sheffield in Scotland (not that I know that much about places in Scotland other than Carnoustie/Panbride/Arbroath area). Since my grandfather (George Cameron Bisset) was born in 1899, Peter would have been born earlier than that by a couple of years. My questions are: how can I get any personal information about him from the Cameron Highlanders (aren't they defunct now?) and do the names Peter Bisset and "Bertha from Sheffield" ring a bell with anyone?
Thanks,
Anne Godfrey

Thank you for your information. Ewen Jr, my g-grandfather was born in Ontario, buried in Ontario, married Maria Williams, daughter of Thomas & Mary. Charles and Alexander came to the US, Christina married Russell Perrrine in Ontario. Ewen Jr was also a teacher at Watson School in Pt Stanley. Are there any school records available for those time periods? Thanks again
