Hi My g.g.G. grandmother was Janet (jennet) CAMERON wife of Donald Cameron. who moved from Glengarry cty to Finch twp. lot 15 con. 6. at Berwick, Donald was killed while building a mill along the Payne River in 1812. Janet then got a grant of land at Pendleton in Prescott cty. Her daughter Grace married Hugh McLean. Their daug. married Maurice Shane from whom i am descended. Some of Janets family apparently moved back into the Finch area.. Anyone have info on who Janets maiden name was.. Maybe a Donnelly? Would Donald be a brother of Lt. Col. John Cameron? Any info would be appreciated.

Hi Colette,
Did your Cameron's come to the US? There are many Alexander, Allen's, and
Flora's in my references. It would help me to learn some more about them if you
have the information.
I'll keep looking.
Dean

No problem Colette,
It will be a couple days before I could get back to looking. I am taking the
family on a camping trip for a few days.
I too, have a similar story. My GGGrandfather was RC but married a Methodist
woman. He is buried in the RC Cemetery and she in the Public one across the
street.
Thanks,
Dean
Greetings Dean,
Thank you for your help. I guess I was confusing when I went through the
family tree. I evidently mixed up the names. I would like to see if you
could look back through the book for the following information.
(parents) Alexander Cameron - Flora McDonnell (not
sure of spelling)
!
!
!
(son) Allan Cameron - Charlotte
Bentley
(b:Glengarry 1928?) (b:? Portage du Fort)
I apologize for the mix up. Allan Cameron was Roman Catholic. It's funny
you asked about his religion in an earlier email. In 1901 he became ill
and went to the hospital where he died. He is buried in the Catholic
Cemetery in my hometown. His wife and children blamed the hospital
(Catholic run by Nuns) for his death, so they left the Church. She and two
of the sons are buried across the street in the non-Catholic
cemetery. When his grandson (my grandfather) married, he married a
Catholic girl. This is where the family migrated back to the Catholic
religion. I believe that Charlotte's listed her religion as Church of
England in a census.
I also do not know if Allan had any brothers or sisters. My only real
documents are the 1881 census, and the marriage record for 1860.
Once again thank you for your help and the time you give.
Colette

Sorry Colette,
I looked in the book that I have and find no Alex or Alexander married to a
"Charlotte". No Alex or Alexander with kids with those names either.
This book is certainly not complete. Many of these lines that are published
I recognize through my studies and I have much more complete info on several
of these families.
Keep searching you will break down the wall!
