Hi,
Would your James M. Cameron b. 1798 in GA possibly have had a son named James
M. Cameron b. 1819 in TN? He is my brick wall.
Thanks, Sandy in Sacramento
HI Mike,
Glad to hear from you, I remember we ran into each
other a long time ago, and had interests in AL Camerons.
My connections only go back to Jackson and Madison
Counties in AL, and don't know where in TN, I only have
the Federal Index, and no leads.
This marriage of Susan A. to Andrew McMinn has been
a mystery, She lived all but about 4 years of her life in AL,
they had gone to TN, had 2 sons, and divorced, she came back
to Madison Co., AL, and died abt 1880 in her sons home.
Keepa Truckin,

Jackie,
You have a John from Tenn. do you have anything on where in Tenn. I have a
Judith Cameron who married a David Mc Kay and they lived in Cocke Co. She
was born in 1835. I can't seem to connect her to any family so far. She was
only 13 when she got married. They had 11 children from 1850 to 1874. She
died in 1874 in Tenn. The family moved to Oregon in the 1880's. Any help
would be appreciated. Thanks Pat

Good to hear from you Jackie!
Things have been real slow lately on the list.
I am still looking for more information on John J. Cameron (elusive as ever)!
I have found several of his grandchildren still alive! They are living in
Minnesota. I and my family are going to travel to Minnesota and say hi to a
few of them.
Hope all is well with you!
Keep hunting,

The name is so common--it does not appear to be the same person. Good luck with
your research.

Thanks, Jerri, for the information -- and congratulations! Looks like you've found where Lewis is from. I think it's a reasonable possibility that your Lewis Cameron and my Sarah A. Cameron were brother & sister, so I really appreciate the tip to begin looking for the parents of Sarah A. Cameron in Hamilton County and the Cincinnati area.

Still haven't found parents of Lewis but just returned from Clay County Indiana where I found a letter in Cameron file at the Clay County Genealogical Society which says "Lewis Cameron born July 11,1812 Cincinnati, OH died Febuary 15, 1866 Bowling Green, Indiana; Married Sarah Cunningham who was born November 1, 1812 Cincinnati, OH and died July 13, 1889 Centerpoint, IN. Daughter Mariah Jane Cameron born December 11, 1842 Anderson IN and December 24, 1891 Winfield, KS. Cincinnati is in Hamilton County and my gggrandfather had a sister Mariah Jane so I think the info is correct. Correspondent was Diane Davis of Chesapeake, VA who is a descendent of Mariah.

First I hope I am sending this correctly. It is the first time I have tried
to respond, so I may have botched it up. I hope I have it right about who I
am sending to.
You inquired about Albert Lester Cameron. He was my grandfather. I have
quite a bit of information, but it will take a while to compile it into a
comprehensive missive. Basically, Albert was born May 18, 1866, almost
exactly 10 months after Charles was mustered out of the Union army at Baton
Rouge LA on July 15, 1865. Charles was in the Union army at Vicksburg Miss
in July 1863. He (Charles)was born Oct 2 1821 to William Cameron (Oct 13,
1799) and Cecilia Bently (April 4, 1802) in Canada (possibly Quebeck or
Montreal). Charles came to the US about 1854 just before his first wife
Phebe Chapman. Mary Pardee was his second wife (married Oct 24 1854). I have
suspicions of who Williams father was, but no actual documentation. I was 5
years old when Albert died, so I do not remember very much about him. My
grandmother Susan died on November 15, 1962, I do remember quite a bit about
her.
The children of Albert and Susan, were:
Russell Jun 3, 1893 (my father)
Bessie - April 10, 1896
Shipley (Jack) - April 11, 1900
Elkaneh (Skinner) - May 30, 1901 (My favorite uncle)
Baby boy died at birth 1907
Twin boys died at birth 1909
Burcel (Buster) April 7, 1912 died 1918
Clifford (Butch) April 12 1912
Frank September 1916
If I have given you enough to confirm that I am who I say I am, contact me
directly at my e-mail address. Later if you will send me your US mail
address, I can compile a copy of most of the documentation and speculation I
have and send it to you.

I am reading Rita Lavorgna's postings on Catherine Cameron with great interest.
As some of you may recall, I am on the trail of Dougald Cameron, born in Quebec in 1830 of Scottish immigrant parents. No luck with the 1851 and 1861 censuses for the areas around St-Catherine de la Jacques Cartier near Quebec city, nor with the Ste-Catherine near LaPrairie on the south shore of the St. Lawrence across from Montreal. I am finding this discouraging, but I will look out for this Catherine cameron born around the same time as I widen my search. In my experience, Rita, when I find indexes of Quebec births etc, mainly the French names are indexed, and even anglo Catholics don't show. They must be there! I am concerned that with our move to Vancouver next week I'll be losing access to some of the eastern Canadian records.
During a recent trip to Quebec, we stopped at La Prairie to enjoy the historic town centre. It was lovely and gave us a glimpse into what a Quebec town was like in the early 19th century. A real pleasure for genalogists.

John Cameron is my 2nd. great-grandfather, but I know nothing about him excxept that he was probably born 1810-1820 in Scotland, and he married Ann Marshall. Their daughter, Ann was married in Kilmarnock, Ayr, Scotland on 28 July 1865 to John Cuthbertson Spier, and she lists John Cameron and Ann Cameron nee Marshall as her parents.
