I am looking for ANY information on a family with the surname of CAMERON (CAMRON) who were living in Lockport, Niagara Co., NY.
The head of household was named Kenneth CAMERON, and the breakdown of the 1840 census for this group were:
3 males ages 5-9
4 males ages 20-29
4 males ages 30-39
3 females ages 20-29
I believe this may have been a group of at least three brothers: Kenneth, John, and Daniel and possibly other relatives, wives, children.
The CAMERON name does not show in the Niagara Co., NY 1840 or 1860 censuses. Where did they come from? Where did they go?
I would appreciate anything you are able to share on this family!

I have an Alexander Cameron married to an Adelaide L. Fields. No
dates or places known.
They had a son, Frank, born ca. 1865 in Rehoboth, Mass according to
his marriage certificate. He married into my line with Ellen Fantom,
born England between 1874 - 1875.
Any similarities here besides Alexander's name and possible nickname
of Annie for Adelaide??

Ruth,
I noticed that you list CAMERON and HANNA under surnames. Does your
CAMERON and HANNA happen to have a PRESTON (KNOPFLI) connection?

Betty, I have a R.N. Cameron/Camron who married a Martha ? who I believe are the parents of my husband's grandmother who first married a Charles Lafayette Cameron in Freestone Co.,Tx. and Charlie had a brother named Robert Thomas. Both these brothers married sisters, Charlie married Sallie Blakely and Thomas married Mary Mae Blakely. They both raised their families in Freestone Co.,Tx. Martha had a daughter named Mollie and a son John W. I have pictures of their stones and John's memorial card of his obituary. I have not been able to tie Charlie and Tom to Martha and R.N. yet, but I know there is a strong tie as I have some correspondence handed down through Sallie Blakely Cameron. I have tried in vain to locate any info on R.N. and Martha. Oh yes, the Newton and Robert are in Thomas and Charlie's family. Do you possibly have these two brothers in your line that may tie them in with R.N. and Martha ? Please let me know if you will. Ruth Thompson
Hey Karla,
We do not have a connection but I wanted to share some fun similarities to
our families.
My John Cameron b. 1844 Canada was married to Permelia Lyons. They lived in
Minnesota.
My John also had a brother Daniel (or Donald the names interchange) who was 2
years older than John.
Good luck in your continuing research!

Your document is most interesting. You state that John and Mary Cameron settled on lot 6 conc. 4 and they are buried in the Cameron Cemetery lot 6 con. 4. Do you know if it was common to to have the same consession and lot in the cemerery as the lot they lived on? Was this just a coincidence?
I am the one that David Frame mentions in the first message of this string of messages. My brother has the deed given to Janet Cameron Ramage, daughter of Alexander Cameron. She and her husband hold the property on her deed until atleast 1851. At that time it still had not been settled, nor had most of that part of the township. They end up living in Kincardine Twp of Bruce Ont. before moving to the states.
Thank you for your help.

Hello,
I am looking for information on the family of John CAMERON b.1816-17 in NY married early 1840's to Permelia (JACKSON??) b.1817-18 Ohio.
They had the following known children, probably all born in Fulton Co., OH:
Arthur b.1844-45, prob. d.bef. 1860
Louisa b. 1847-48
Armon b. 1849-50
Lewis b. 1853-54
Almond b. 1857-58
I am researching John's brother Daniel who died young leaving a small son, Alexander, who lived with John and Permelia. I am interested in any information that would let me learn a little more than what I have. I would particularly like to know the death date/location for John and Permelia, and the names of the parents/siblings of John CAMERON.
Thank-you for any help you are able to offer!

Hi Donald,
Are there still a lot of Cameron's living in SGD area? It is very
interesting to me to see sooo many Cameron's and McDonalds in my research.
It is so intertwined with relationships. I wonder how many have kept with
the family histories that are not necessarily Internet Genealogists. I have
begun reading a rather large book on the History of Glengarry with great
interest. I will someday look forward to traveling there.
Merry Christmas,
Dean Cameron

I have just located amongst my papers a copy of a notice dated Nov. 1785 co-addressed to Alex Cameron and John Cameron. The notice states that they are entitled to two hundred acres and they have drawn Lot 6 in the 4th concession and if they settle and improve the land they will receive a Deed of Concession at the expiration of twelve months.
It does not indicate the relationship, if any, between Alex and John.
Yours truly,
Donald Chisholm
FYI:
I am not the seller, nor am I advertising the book, but the names on the page might help someone
find their ancestors whereabouts.
They have an full name index and a full name index of the ones that have a photo in the book.
Might be worth looking at if you don't already have it, at least to make a note of its existance.
I know I can't afford anything else and Christmas almost here, but you might like to know it is there.

On July 6, 1947 the Oregonian newspaper ran the following caption attached to
a picture of two children.
"Rainier (OR) June 5, SPECIAL
Patricia, 4, and Virgil, 2, were left motherless late Wednesday when a bullet
entered the heart of Mrs. Evelyn Cameron Alford, 21, at the family home.
Police of two states were searching for the husband and father, Carl E.
Alford, for questioning in connection with the slaying. When the crime was
discovered Thursday, Patricia was shaking the body of her mother in an
attempt to waken her and Virgil was asleep in his crib".
Rainier is in Columbia County, Oregon, just across the river from Longview
and Kelso, Washington which is why I assume Carl E. Alford was being sought
in two states. I have some knowledge of an Alford family that lived in both
of these locations but do not know of any relationship to Carl Alford. Evelyn
Cameron Alford is buried in Green Mountain Cemetery, Rainier, Columbia
County, OR.
If anyone knows of, or is interested in any of the above, please contact me.

My Grandfather, Herman Camerer was married to Emma Jane Clayton. They had 5 children, Clyde, Edith Marguerite Fish, Linda Hamilton, Leatha Hammer, and Stella Coolly Bryant. He also had a half sister, Sadie Enitinger from Iona, Michigan. I am told he was born in Michigan and she, Emma Jane, was born in Kansas.
In 1914 Herman changed the family name to Cameron because of the increasing prejudice due to the German activity in Europe.
I'm hoping these names and the name change tidbit will stir a memory and I'll connect up with a cousin who could tell me a little more about this family.
Thank you for your time and energy.
