Hi,
I don't think my Cameron line went to TN. They mostly stayed in SC then
moved to GA then AL. Later they moved west to Missi then some came to TX.

A kind soul on the AL census look up came up with this family for me as a
possible match for my John A. CAMERON, who had to have been somewhere in AL

this is him --can anyone identify this bunch? Zou Feagin zfeagin(a)aol.com

Did your Cameron's ever live in TN? I noticed you have two James M.

William Cameron, Jr. b(unknown) d. 1811 Christian Co. Ky. was married to Nancy (maiden name unknown) Nancy married (2) William Randolph 1817, widow of Ann Banks.
Looking for parents of William Cameron Jr. Family story has 4 brothers John, Ewen, Donald and William came to America from Scotland abt. 1745, to NC, William thought to have moved to Abbeville District of Sc., thought to be an Episcopalian minister, had 5 boys and 5 girls.
In one record the father of William Jr is listed as John Cameron, but I believe it was William Sr. I have children of William Cameron Jr. and Nancy:
John
Jessie
Nancy
Margaret
Daniel
Mary
All of these children lived and died in Kentucky.
Does anyone have a William Cameron that would fit the 1745 date or a William Jr. that was in Sc prior to 1810.

My biggest brick wall is my great grandfather's family. My great grandfather was a Robert CAMERON born about 1848 at Ardmillan Cottages in Girvan, Ayrshire, Scotland. His father was a Duncan CAMERON and his mother was a Margaret MAITLAND. Margaret was born about1828 in Girvan, Ayrshire. Both Duncan CAMERON and Margaret MAITLAND disappear after the birth of Robert CAMERON. His was found living with his grandparents (the MAITLAND's) on the 1851 census for Girvan. Robert next shows up around 1880 in Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland when he marries Mary Ann HIGGINS. I know much about the family from 1880 on but would love to find someone connected to my Duncan CAMERON.

Has anyone seen a reference to either of these folks? They appear to have
been the parents of the Thomas CAMERON b. abt 1797, and found in the Upson
County, GA census of 1840. Thomas m. Ann CLARK, a descendent of Gilbert
CLARK who founded the Barbecue Presbyterian Church in Harnett/Moore County,
NC, along with a Daniel CAMERON. John and Jenny are definitely the
grandparents of the John A. CAMERON found in Taylor County, GA, and also
GIlbert Clark CAMERON who m. Martha FEAGIN in Sumter County in abt 1855. I
believe that they are also the parents, possibly grandparents of my John A.
CAMERON, b 1817, in NC who is found in the Lee County, GA census of 1870.
[Note to all you John A. CAMERON researchers -- at about the same time, there
was a John A. CAMERON found in Taylor County, one in Talbot County (b. SC)
and one in Lee, b. in NC....
There was definitely some kind of family relation between Henry C. CAMERON,
son of the Lee County John A., and Gilbert and Martha Feagin CAMERON. Later
Martha's much younger half-brother William H. FEAGIN m. Henry's daughter
Eugenia, and bless their little hearts, they became my grandparents... Too
many John's..... Zou Feagin zfeagin(a)aol.com

In my Cameron book by John Burton Cameron I have a John Allen Cameron born 1824 in
Harnett County NC , son of Archibald Cameron. This John Allen Cameron married a
Miss Sallie Baker near Bluff Church in Harnett /Cumberland County NC and they moved
to Jacksonville Florida in 1856.
There is a John M. Cameron , oldest son of Dougald Cameron Sr. He was born 9-19-1814
in Harnett Co NC and died 12- 8-1889. John M. Cameron was married to Sally Morris
who was born 8-12-1829 and died 3-5-1921. She was the daughter of :"Big" Jim Morris
and had 4 sons and 1 daughter.
There is John A. Cameron, son of John M. Cameron, born 3-17-1850 and died 9-22-1931
in Harnett Co NC. This John A. Cameron married Mary Margaret Cameron daughter of Red
Angus Cameron. Mary Margaret was born 7-6-1849 and died 2-24-1929. They had 7
children.
There is also a John Cameron, son of James Cameron (my direct line is James' son
Allen Cameron ) . This John Cameron was born in 1818 in Harnett Co NC and died in
1828. He married Malvais Cox of Bladen Co NC and they moved to Wayne Co NC. They had
5 sons and 2 daughters.
I hope that this did not confuse anyone further....

Add Jeams as a aliase for James
Does anyone know of an aliase for Absalom?
And does anyone know of any Absaloms in NC in 1790
Ive found 2 at one time in 1790 census
Does this mean there are 2
OR is there a possibility he owned 2 properties in 2 seperate counties?
Any words of wisdom anyone?

Never thought of myself as a genius
Please wait a second while I blush
But you know
As I and Im sure many, many other Cameron researchers
John Cameron
James Cameron
Thomas Cameron
on and on they go
Theres sooo much info buried among the other info
that its imposible to sift it out
For example in NC
within NC in 1790
There are 3or4 John Camerons within 10 sq miles
so mant they had to use nicknamed
John Taylor Cameron (he was a Tailor)
John Beaver Creek Cameron (he lived on Beaver Creek)

My brick wall is, the early life and origins of John CAMERON and his wife Christina
MACDONALD who in 1790s lived in Strathgarve, Contin, ROC. That is a bit north or
Dingwall. I <suspect> that John descended from the group who came from Lochaber and
settled near the Hiltoun/Hilton MACKENZIEs e. of Muir of Ord. Which is right where I
have CAMERON cuzzins living right now ;~)
