I was very excited to find a death index for WI. that contained the name John
J. Cameron. It also had a duplicate entry for the same death date for J.J.
Cameron which was the moniker my John went by. The death date was Nov. 7th
1893. (The last date that I have my John in Duluth was 1892). Well, to make
a long story short, I received the information in the mail today. John J.
Cameron of WI. was born on Oct. 2nd 1824. He was 69 when he died of Dropsy?
My John as you are all aware I'm sure, was born May 1st 1845.
So I am back to square one. Where did he go? When did he die? Where did he
come from? Who were his parents? Why did my GGrandfather never speak of
him? John J. seemed to have a lot of friends.
I guess I am back to searching Duluth. He was last listed in the Directory
of 1892 as living in "West Duluth." He was a Teamster in the area. I would
appreciate any lookups in the 1895 State Census and 1900 Federal Census. I
would research all the "John Cameron's."
I will save the Champagne :(
The best to you all, Dean Cameron
Would you have a Galloway by marriage within your family? I am looking for a
Galloway who married a David Downs, in Scotland. I believe there to be a
link within the family to Camerons. Also, Longmuir men married Galloway
women and the middle name for two of the female children were Cameron.
Thanks
Kathy Galloway
