In looking for information on John J. Cameron of Wadena County MN., I found a
William Cameron b.1833. He lived with his wife and (7) children in Todd
County (right next door to Wadena). I do not have my files with me right now
but some of the kids names were Daniel, William, Issabella, Richard, Latisha
(sp?), John H. and I can't remember the last one. I find a William and
Daniel often owning land next to each other in several parts of the state. I
do not know if this is Father / Son or William / Daniel (Brother) or just a
coincidence. I am pursuing the idea that John J. had two brothers (at least)
William and Daniel. Although I cannot find them living in Wadena County
from a land ownership standpoint, I know that William came from Canada as did
John, and both Daniel and William died in Wadena County. William is 12 years
older than John J. If anybody knows William or Daniel or the kids let me
know.
Thanks, Dean Cameron
Hi everyone,
I am researching Camerons in Scotland. The details I have so far are as
follows:
My ancestor is William Cameron born 1801 Thurso, Caithness. He married
Elizabeth Sutherland on 7th. March 1828 Thurso. (Elizabeth was born in 1809
in Thurso). Their children appear to have been:
Elizabeth Cameron (my forbear) born 1832 Thurso, married James Angus on 3rd.
Nov 1854 in Wick, Caithness.
Margaret b: approx 1843; married a John Morrison
Jane Cameron b: approx. 1846; married a John Pottinger
William Cameron b: approx 1849.
James Angus, who married Elizabeth Cameron, was born approx 1827 Huntley,
Aberdeen. Their children were:
William, born in 1855 probably in Scotland.
James, born in about 1857 in Dunedin N.Z.
Elizabeth, Margaret, Jane, Agnes, Annie, Helen, Edith & Alice were born in
Australia.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who may have information
regarding this family.
Sincerely, Andrea Fitzgerald.
Write to Lochiel and ask him for a copy..don't know the price...excellent source material...Lochiel's addressis...

Hi Beryl,
Only 3 years!!!!!! Try 15+ - that's really frustrating! :-)
I don't think I'm ever going to get anywhere until I can get to Canada
and do some footslogging around cemeteries etc.
Good hunting,
Margaret

For those of us who descended from the Camerons of CLUNES. which is very near
Achnacarry, it would be helpful to know if the Clunes history, which
apparently was researched many years ago and is mentioned in the The
Camerons. The History of the Clan Cameron available at the Achncarry Cameron
Museum, Lochiel's home has been printed or published. If so , how may I get
a copy? A family tree of this group is in the History, but there is more
which might be available. Let any CLUNES know. Thankyou for all of
us....Joan Cameron Sherwood Schaeffer.
Thanks Bob,
I have been all over that site, and nothing !!!
Life is soooo unfair. We have been after that man for three years now.
Thanks again for the answer.

Now that IS a cute name, there'd not be many of those. A person of that

Alistair,
Thanks for sending this. This Levander is the grandson of the Levander that
we are all trying to locate. The Levander Cameron we are stuck on was born
around the late 1700's. He was married by 1800 for he has a son born by
then. We know that he was in Marion Co., South Carolina and from there moved
to Marion Co., Mississippi by 1828, although I believe they actually arrived
in MS by 1825. He was married to a Hester____we do not have a last name on
her, but I suspect that it could possibly be a "Ford" since they had some
close ties to the Ford family. There is a possibility that Hester could be a
Bryant also.
This line has been extremely hard to find and if anyone out there could help,
it would greatly be appreciated by all of us!
Once again, thanks for your thoughtfulness,
Lorna (WSchind121(a)aol.com)

These folk you named are not of my family. But I noted, a coincidence
perhaps, that in the Family Tree Maker basic CD kit there is listed
Alaina Marie Kirkpatrick. As you possibly have ready access to the World
Family Tree Series (I do not) then this may be worth looking at.

When "hits" are made in published work, I like to try next to look in
Ancestral File which can print to paper, or diskette, the tree of a
related family that's located at a FamilySearch library keyboard. By
hitting the F9 key you can get the name and postal address of the tree
submitter.
Go fer it! Cheers.........

Hi Laura: I don't know if this will be of any help but..I have a gr gr gr
Uncle, William C. Cameron, b. 1816, who had a son, George Washington Cameron
b. 1837 in Giles Co., TN. This GW Cameron had an uncle, John David Cameron,
who went to Arkansas and I suppose GW could have gone with him as he would
have been old enough. Of course our GW may well have been named after the
original GW but could have also been named after a friend of his father's.
Mary
Could anyone tell me please in which pre-1974 county the Outer Hebrides were
included? I suspect it was Inverness.

Grandfather Alexander CAMERON, 1866 - 1933 and his father John. Alexander
had siblings James, Catriona, Callum, Rachel and John. No other info.
available as yet!
Hello all,
Thanks for all your patience while I get the hang of this List Owner thing.
I am a Cameron through my father's side from Southern MS. With a lot of help
from other Cameron relatives I found on this very list, I have been able to
establish solid connections to around 1800. The family tree follows.
1.Alana Cameron Kirkpatrick
2. Arthur L. Cameron b. 1932 Lamar Co MS d. 1997 Davidson Co TN
3. Arthur L. Cameron b. 1908 Lamar Co MS d. Jasper Co TN 1979
4. Thomas Daniel Cameron b. 1885 Lamar Co MS d. 1960 Lamar Co MS
5. John Russell Cameron b. 1869 d. 1938 Lamar Co MS
6.William Cameron b. 1822 d. 1891 MS
7. Levander Cameron
All the research that has been done establishes Levander Cameron in Marion
Co, SC around 1800-1820 with an est. move to Marion Co MS(now Lamar and
Marion Co).
Lots of thanks goes to a fellow Cameron - WSchind121(a)aol.com, who has done a
great deal of this authenticating/establishing research. If you recognize
any of these names as your 'brick walls', please e-mail me privately. I
would be glad to share any info that I have.
Sorry for the length of this message. I did leave out spouses and sibs to
keep this short.
Thanks for your time,
Alana
