I have learned that my Great Grandfather Fred Cameron was born in Minnesota
around 1880 ish. I know that this is very sketchy but it all I have to start
from. He later moved to Robinson N.D. and became a Horse Rancher, Banker and
the owner of the Cameron Cooker General Store in Robinson. I am looking for
information up-line from him. If this sounds familiar or you have any info
on Minnesota Camerons for me to begin with I would appreciate it. Also,
Sunny I will look into the Lewis's, McKenzies. Other family names in that
group are Clarendon, Walker and Smith. Thanks, Dean
Hi Jim,
Welcome to the Cameron List, and your first post got my
attention, as I have a Susan Cameron , and am looking for her partents.
My Susan is my GGGrandmother, born in SC or AL, or maybe
TN, abt 1837, married Andrew McMinn in Madison Co., AL, 3/1855,
had two sons, divorced in TN, and came back to Madison Co., AL, and
died abt 1880.
If you have any info, I would be most appreciative.
Again, Welcome,
Jackie McMinn

Hello,
I am brand new to the list and am looking for a Susan Annett Cameron who
married an Abner Vincent Neeley. I believe they were probably married in
Tennessee. Susan was born in 1818 and Abner Vincent Neeley was born in 1813.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Jim Lindell
Hey Folks,
For those of you having trouble with the E-Mail address
I sent you for the Quaker Corner, type the address without any
capital letters, with AOL it doesn't matter, but with other networks,
sometimes it does.
Thanks,
Jackie McMinn
Hello, My name is Dean Cameron and I am new to the site. I am interested in
learning more about "Cameron's" as well as trying to trace some ancestors. I
have extensive history on my mothers side dating back to the 15th century.
However the Cameron side is lacking. My Father is Clark Cameron married to
Glenna Lewis. My Grandfather was Frank Cameron married to Jesse White. My
Great- Grandfather was Fred Cameron married to Josephine ????. They all
lived in Robinson, North Dakota. I am excited to hear from you and look
forward to enjoying the site. Thank you, Dean
Dear folks, today was a good day. I found two more generations of my Cameron
line that I have been searching for ten years for in Illinois..they are in
Coal County, Oklahoma. Of course I'm now looking for connections in Oklahoma
rather than Illinois, so they are as follows:
John Cameron b abt 1823 (most likely Luncharty, Perthshire, Scotland) died
October 1, 1892 probably in Coal County, Oklahoma (buried in the Lehigh, OK
cemetery)
Wife of John, Margaret Cameron born abt 1825 (probably same as John in
Scotland) died July 5, 1895, again buried in Lehigh Cemetery, Coal Cnty,
Oklahoma
Next generation:
Duncan Cameron no date of birth (probably Perthshire also) died December 3,
1920
First wife to Duncan, Emeline (Gay) Cameron b Aug 19, 1837 died July 15,
1890. I believe these two are also buried in Lehigh Cemetery, Coal Co.
Oklahoma
Next generation:
George John Cameron b Streator, LaSalle Cnty, Illinois Jan. 21, 1888, died
Mar 10, 1968 in Compton California (Orange County) and is buried in California
First wife to George John-Nettie Brigham, second wife Hattie Bell Jackson,
third wife Ola ?. Nettie Brigham and Hattie Bell Jackson Cameron are both
buried in Oklahoma, Hattie in Henryetta, OK. These were my grandparents.
Any connections, please share as I will. Thanks, Sunny (azuredaze(a)aol.com)
Hey Folks,
For those of you that may have Quaker ancestors, especially
who came from Ireland and Scotland, and who, like myself, didn't
realize I did until I started my research, here is also a site that is an
education within itself, and a real experience.
The Quakers kept records as well as the LDS, and still do,
and will do free look-ups by e-mail. Their have a main page menu
that will guide you, and teach you well how to use the site.
Just thought some of you would enjoy this site too.........

Hope this helps,
Jackie McMinn
Hey Folks,
I received notice that Ms. Tracey Converse of Little Rock,
AR, USA, a professional genealogist, that I have used for look-ups
before, now has her own Mailing List back on-line, and thought you
might want to check it out.
It is free, like ours, and has a newsletter. GRS(a)Rootsweb.com
There is also a long awaited site online, The LDS Records(Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), has their new site going, it's not
completed in their set-up and test stages, but is usable, and worth the
visit, at ......www1.familysearch.org.
Hope this helps, and enjoy,
Jackie McMinn
My gr gr grandfather moved from Tallapoosa County
in the spring of 1855. His name was John A. Cameron.
I've never found any indication that he had a daughter,
but the above marriage needs to be solved.

Dennis -- wouldn't it be great if this is yours??? It could possibly be
mine, although I never have located mine as to exact location of his time in
AL.... Zou Feagin
Hello,
Regarding your message below to CAMERON-L :
Do you know anything about these people who were
married in Tallapoosa County??
Susan Cameron to Andrew McMinn March 10, 1855
above is noted as daughter of John Cameron

Hi Dennis,
Thank you for your response, and especially for the info of
my GGGrandmother, Susan Camerons father. I suspected that maybe
she came from GA or SC, at least that is what was passed on to the family
by a GAunt.
I do not have any info as to the Tallapoosa Co. marriage, but I
do own a copy of the marriage certificate, for 3/10/1855, in Madison Co.,
AL,(Huntsville), and also attend the burial plot of her and her son, George
Washington McMinn. She died at his residence, but there is no tombstone,
only rock markers, except for two, that being for George W. and his first
daughter, that was purchased by his sons. I highly suspect that one of the
rock markers would be hers.
Their residence was located in the same district of Madison Co.,
as John and George, and I'm not positive it was the same as theirs, or next
door. It is located in south side of the county, 1 mile no. of the banks of
the Tennessee River, and their chiney/hearth still stands today, and the
cemetery plot is about 150 ft. from there.
As much as I have researched the McMinn Line, there could not
have been two Andrew McMinns of that age or location.
Hope this helps,
Jackie McMinn

Hey Laura,
I think we have a coincidence of Cameron/McMinn Connections.
You have a Susan and George W., I have a Susan and George W.
Yours are Camerons, mine are McMinns, but Susan Cameron was my
GGGreatmother who married Andrew McMinn in 1855.
Could our relatives have been related? George Washington,
her second son, my GGrandfather, was born in 1858. She is not on
the 1850 census in Madison Co., AL, but was in the same District as
John and George Cameron that are. She lived unmarried in the same
District, she and her son, George, both died there.
Kicking Clues around,
Jackie McMinn
Looking for information on a James William Cameron born in Fayette Co Ky
in 1835. Lived and died , raised his family in Douglas Co Mo. Don't
know his parents or his siblings name.
Jackie,
I do have a George W. Cameron, born in Tenn about 1815 - but he married a
Sarah Jones in 1839 in KY. Had a son in 1843 in KY, then was found in ARK in
the 1850 census without Sarah but with Susan and a new baby born in 1850 and
Son Eli Cameron (b 1843) with them. They were there in the 1860 census also.
(on the Misouri/Ark border)
This could not be the George you are looking for because he could not be in
both census, but possibly a relative. What was the approx. birth year of your
George? And do you know who his parents and/or siblings were? We have
suspected there was a John in his family.
Good Hunting,
Laura Cameron Lovett

Dear Kay,
Hope you had a smashing time in the US.
I'll be on my way YOUR way in August. Plan to go to the Highlands to see
Lochiel and Lady Margaret and all I can. Think my gggrandfather and
gggandmother were from Perth, maybe Roixburgshire which is where so many
of the Camerons came from that settled in Upstate New York.
Looking for my ggrandf and gggrandm. one John H or A Cameron born 1805
married a woman named Sarah ? Got any hints how I might search birth
records in and around Perth for the years 1804- 1809?
Appreciate any help you can give me. He was a tailor.
Yours aye,
Marlene Cameron
Hi Kay;
Welcome Back. I hope you and your husband enjoyed your trip to USA.

Hey Folks,
Good News!!!! Kay Liney, my DEAR FRIEND from
Aberfeldy, Perthshire, Scotland is back with us. She and her
Husband have been on Holiday to the US, and has returned
safely.
She has Cameron relatives and ancestors from that area,
and I consider her an asset, with not only the Cameron background,
but the info she supports me with in the McMinn Mailing List
as well.
She's your Relative and Friend too,
Jackie McMinn
