Re: [CAMERON-L] Where have all the flowers gone?
by Linda Spivey Bjorklund
Hello Cameron Cousins.......just little ol' me, one of the petals off one
of the many roses that are growing on this list.....grin. I had submitted
my Camerons before and cousin Polly Dixon responded.....but I'm going to do
it again and maybe some of those new rosebuds can add something to it.
Enjoy.

Portland, Oregon, where they also have the Rose Festival everyyear...so I
guess that makes me a homegrown Rose!!! :))
Descendants of James Cameron
Generation No. 1
1. JAMES1 CAMERON was born May 18, 1754, and died October 09, 1799. He
married JANE OR JEAN CRAIG March 1754.
Notes:
The Beverley Patent 1736 to 1815 In Orange and Augusta Co. Va. compiled and
drawn by J. R. Hildebrand. 1954.
100 acres- 1771 James Cameron.
Linda,
Notes from Polly Dixon:
(1) James Cameron and Jane Craig were living in "Washington County in the
State of Virginia" when their son Samuel was born on 18 Feb 1778. This
information is from the old Cameron Family Journal which belonged to
Samuel. The name is written as Jane in several entries in the journal, and
as Jean only in the entry referring to her death. Also, her son Samuel
named his eldest daughter Jane. Wasn't that the naming pattern in those
days: to name the eldest daughter for her paternal grandmother?
This treasured old journal has been handed down from generation to
generation in the Cameron family. I have a laser-printer copy of the
journal.
(2) One James Cameron obtained 100 acres in 1771 in the Beverly Patent in
Orange and Augusta Counties, Va. This may be our James Cameron's father.
Our James was only 17 years old in 1771.
(3) North Carolina Land Grant dated 11 July 1788 to James Cameron: 200
acres "lying & being in the County of Greene (NC -- later TN) on the south
side of the Nollachucky river and east side of Cane Creek."
Signed Polly in Houston
