Subject: Re: [CAMERON-CANADA] seeking information on Hugh Cameron born 1822
Hello,
I am not sure why I did not think of coming at this in this manner before.
It a peers so simple. I was looking for information on a gentleman that is
said to be my great, great grandfather. Hugh Cameron said to be born in may
sometime of 1822 and came to the US and then Canada in 1825. I have had a
few e mails stating no connection. If you find none I was wondering if when
replying folks would be willing to share witch of the five branches there
line descends. That would help me greatly even if there is no connection
with that branch and I could rule it out and look harder at those that
remain. I did get one bit of information I did not have before and that is
Someone who is helping me found the following I post it here So as to see
who's information this matches and either rule that line out as well or look
harder into the possibility of a connection. That information is as follows:
" Hi again Jimmy,
I have found a death for a Hugh Cameron in Kenyon Ontario
Date of Death June 8 1913 (if this is my great, great grandfather that would
mean he was born in 1816 not 1822)
Age 97 years
Farmer
Married
Father Hugh Cameron
Mother Annie McIntosh
Informant Hugh Cameron, Maxville Ontario
Without verifying completely, there is circumstantial evidence that this is
your GG Grandfather. You said that Margery died in "Maswell" Ontario but I
couldn't find a Maswell in Ontario. There is a Maxwell but it is almost
600km from the area your Cameron's were in on the 1911 census. However,
Maxville is in Glengarry County about 10 km from Kenyon Rd. Also in the area
around Maxville, I found McMillan's Corners and MacGillivray's Bridge.
(Reader's note my GG grandmother was a McMillan and a G grandmother was a
MacGillivray) The birth date is different but I know one census I looked at
in my own search said adult ages were rounded to the nearest 5 yrs. And
without the type of documentation we have today, it's possible his son
didn't know Hugh's actual birthdate either.
Christine"
So hopefully by ruling branches out I can go forward as it were. Thank you
for your time in reading my latest plea. If you need any more information or
if I did not post the information (as I am on several Cameron list) let me
know and I will get you what you need
"Aonaibh RI Chéile,"
