Jeff,
In reviewing my Cammerer Binder, I find the following notation that might
be of some help in documenting John as son of Daniel:
"Paul Ruff's translation of the old German church records show Daniel &
Catherine Kline has son Joseph born 4 Sept 1804 and son John born 21 Nov
1805 PA. Simon and Lydia were also listed."
So obviously there are some Church records somewhere that document John as
being the son of Daniel. According to the approximate migration pattern of
Daniel, these records would probably be in Westmoreland Co PA. I have not
followed this research as it is not my direct lineage.
According to Margaret Guynn research (her ancestors), Daniel migrated
from Westmoreland Co. PA to Clermont Co. OH about 1809 settling in
Washington Twp. (Logan property). He is listed there on the 1826 Tax
Payers Lists. He was a member of the Clermont Co. OH grand jury. In
Clermont Co OH he witnessed the last will or Henry Guynn, brother to Joseph
(Margaret's descendants). He migrated to IL about 1830, setting in Edgar
County, IL near Scotland, Brouiletts Creek Twp. He is listed on the 1840
Edgar County IL Census. This comes from Margaret Guynn, who did extensive
research back in the 1980's. We corresponded many times, in that time era.
I did make a trip to Edgar County in that time era, for Margaret, and
found the tombstones of Daniel & Catherine in Cammerer Cem. (I live about
70 miles from Edgar). I do have photo's of the tombstones. Also Lewis
Cammerer, brother to Daniel who died 1857. I also have a photo of a
tombstone with just the surnames CAMERER and JOHNSTON on it. No dates, no
given names, more recent stone of marble. Believe the earlier ones are
field stones. If you would like copies, I can scan and send.
Do you have a wife for John Cammerer? Perhaps you could fill me in on some
of his children?

Thanks for the prompt reply to my querry. Your supposition is accurate, as
I do have the Atlanta Camerer family pretty well covered. (TM's son John
has evaded me for the moment.)
I really do not wish to jump to the conclusion that John father of Thomas is
John son of Daniel.
Do any of the subcribers doing work in Edgar Co., IL have any supporting
evidence. The birth dates, though close do not match and the death year is
way off. Perhaps there was another PA John. Does anyone haave access to
the 1840 census records. I once was able to access them via the Historical
Society in Decatur but have misplaced the URL.
Ancestry.com does not yet have any probate or related details on this
family. Perhaaps we should give it more time.
Thank you again.
Jeff
