Jay:
Just wanted to reply to your post and welcome you to the hunt.
Your Barbara Ellen, born circa 1829 could have be an older sister to my
Thomas, born 1833.
The 1840 census for John shows a daughter between 10 and 15 and three sons
bewteen 5 and 10. So far so good for both of us.
From the early reply from Mary AAnn, it looks as if there may be a will to
review. Is Paris the county seat for Edgar county?
I have an aunt and uncle in Charleston, both retired with nothing better to
do than take a drive over to Paris and spend the day looking for her
Great-great grand parents. She did look once before when she was helping me
with a booklet for our 1994 family reunion, but had no success. Maybe I can
give her additional details to make it worth their while.

Jeff and Mary Ann,
I have been following your Edgar County discussion with interest as
I am looking for a connection there for -
Barbara E (Ellen) Camerer who married Calvin McCleary there in 1848.
Here
is the internet index to the record -
[MCCLEARY, CALVIN] [CAMERER, BARBARA E] (5/21/1848 LA204) EDGAR 05/18/1848
SA/ 93 SA 1480
(Volume SA/93 Licence SA 1480)
I've found them in Vermillion County in the 1850 census with one
child age 2. Ellen's age (as she was usually called) was given as 21, so she
was born about 1829. Unfortunately, her birth place was given as TENN, the
same
as Calvin, but in the 1860 census they were in Bruellette Creek
Township
Edgar County
and then her birthplace was given as Illinois. This makes more sense.
Please keep my search in mind as Barbara Ellen's age and location could
easily place her as a sister or cousin of the John you are discussing. I have
posted much of what I could find on the internet for the Camerers in Edgar
County on the CAMERER-List previously so I won't repeat it.
From what has been said, it would appear that a research trip to Edgar
County
might be very productive. Unfortunately that is not in my plans at
the
present time.
