Are there any members out there with Wormells in 19th century becoming Wormalds in 20th
Century? I have a William Bailey Wormell b.abt.1840 in Buckminster, Leics, who settled in
Cambridge and produced several children of which Charles Octavius R Wormell/Wormald (both
are listed in Ancestry) b.1878 and who married Ada Winifred C Harvey-Brooks in 2/1910 in
Solihull and who had at least two children, Brian Harvey G Wormald b.3/1912 Aston 6d. 851
married Rosemary Lloyd 2/1946 Cambs. 3b 1285 and died March 2005 Cambs. age 92. His sister
Edith G Wormald b.3/1914 Solihull 6d 1690 went to USA and returned on 30th May 1947 and
died 1/1963 in Greenwich, Greater London presumably unmarried.
I am trying to find a link between this Brian Harvey G Wormald and Clare
Hollingworth( who is well known as the WW2 war correspondent and is still alive in Hong
Kong, age 99). Clare refers Brian Wormald as her cousin, but I cannot find the connection.
The likely names are Hollingworth,Riley(Clare's mother's maiden name),
Flude(Clare's sister's husband name) and Hoare (Clare's second husband's
name)--she retained her maiden name throughout.
Clare's great nephew is writing a book on her life and this Wormald seems to be
important, but at 99 years age, Clare is just hanging on to life and doesn't recall
the connection.
Any help would be welcome. My connection is that my Grandmother was a Hollingworth and
sister of Clare's father .
