OK-here goes-I have tried to clarify this for this list once or twice before
but got nowhere--so bear with me. Joseph Ford, b 1726 whose will is
probated in Adams Co Ms CANNOT BE THE FATHER OF JOHN FORD BORN IN 1766.
Proof: In the ORGINAL WILL of Joseph Ford on file in Adams Co MS he not
only named his children (which McBee names and is often cited on this list)
but he ALSO indicated their order of birth. (not noted in the McBee
abstract) John Ford is the oldest child; Robert Ford is one of the younger
children.
Now we know that Robert Ford was born in 1752 or thereabouts--His will is
also probated in Adams County and he lists his children in order of birth.
One of the older one is Hester (or Hetty) who married John Spires--This
couple had children old enough to marry before 1800. There are other
sideline items which also place Robert in this age range without any doubt.
Therefore, If Robert is a younger child of Joseph Ford and his son John Ford
is one of the older children, it is not possible for a John, b 1766 to be
the older brother of Robert, b 1752.
Now it is possible that John Ford b 1766 could be the child of Joseph Ford's
son--making him a grandchild of Joseph Ford but I have no proof of what
happened to Joseph's John. I BELIEVE that he is the John Ford who founded a
Ford dynasty in Catahoula Parish in LA but I have no proof.
Actually, I believe that the John Ford who married into the Buckles family
is from another family of Fords--not Joseph Ford's family but I have not
followed up on this.
I hope this is clear-if not, please indicate questions. Kate
