Hello,
My name is Bellinda MYRICK-BARNETT and I am researching the following
possible connections explained below.
Re: 1660/France/VA/Manakintown/1700s-1800s/NC>Richmond Co.>& SC>MS/Jasper
Co. and
specific connection of family group surrounding Joseph CROUCH, b: 1825 in
Richmond Co., NC & Lavenia PANKEY who was born: 1826 in Richmond Co., North
Carolina, died: in Benton County, Mississippi, and md: in 1843, descended
from Jean PANETIER/PANTIER/aka John PANKEY, immigrant.
Re: possible connections with their descendants and a "Panther" EVANS, born:
Bet. 1780-1790 poss. in South Carolina and who lived in Jasper County,
Mississippi
Malinda EVANS, born: February 06, 1810 in GA,
died: September 27, 1875 in Winn Parish, LA
md: August 31, 1825 in Rankin Co., MS
daughter of "Panther" EVANS, born: Bet. 1780-1790 in ?/
poss. in South Carolina, lived later in Jasper Co.,
MS
md: Alson Bluford "Gip" JONES, (more info shown below)
Was his name of "Panther" EVANS possibly from either a given name of
Pantier/Panetier EVANS and/or descent from the same? (More info with
connections below.)
Re: I have lines of CROUCH, McDONALD, SLAUGHTER, BOLTON, THOMAS, EVANS,
JONES, GRISHAM/GRESHAM/GRISSOM, BUCKLES/BUCKHOLTS, FORD, CALVIT/aka CALVET,
CALVER, CALVERT but usually as CALVIT since France that were Huguenots in
Manakintown, Virginia in the poss. conn. with PANETIER/PANTIER/PANKEY family
of Huguenots from Souboise/Soubise, Saintonge, France in 1660s to
Manakintown, VA in the early 1700s and I believe that there is a possibility
that one or more of these families may possibly connect with Jean
PANETIER/aka PANTIER/etc. and aka John PANKEY, born: 1660 in
Souboise/Soubise, Saintonge, France, died: July 1717 in Manakintown,
Virginia, whom I have seen in some info as having married a Angell STEPHEN in
Abt. 1710.
Descendants of this PANETIER/PANTIER/PANKEY family group married into
HAMPTON, POWELL, NEWBERRY, CHISHOLM, NUTT, MAXEY and CROUCH and this CROUCH
association is with my CROUCH family group that was in Richmond County, North
Carolina in the mid-late 1700s with the family group of John CROUCH, Sr.,
born: Abt. 1760 in either Virginia or Richmond County, North Carolina
possibly, (parents: ??,) who married Nancy PHILLIPS, born: Abt. 1763 in
possibly Virginia or Richmond County, North Carolina, who married July 31,
1783 in Richmond County, North Carolina, who were my maternal 4th great
grandparents, (time would allow for them to have been of a more advanced
generation for me but there were a couple of older husband, younger wife
marriages that delayed generations,) and their descendants married into
SLAUGHTER, THOMAS, HUDSON?/HUTSON?, BOSTICK, McDONALD, ROBINSON, WILLIAMS,
LOVE, STRINGFELLOW, BALLARD, CHAPPELL, CAPEL, COVINGTON, HOOK, BOWDEN,
BLOUNT, BROWN, ESTES, SMITH, CLARK, and EWING.
Nancy PHILLIPS and John CROUCH, Sr. were the parents of my maternal 3rd great
grandfather, Samuel CROUCH, born: Abt. 1785 in Richmond County, North
Carolina, who married my maternal 3rd great grandmother, Sarah ?, (I
speculate the possibility that her maiden name might have been
HUDSON?/HUTSON, but that is sheer speculation only based on the fact that her
daughter, Susan L. CROUCH, born: Abt. 1815 in Richmond County, North
Carolina, who married my maternal 2nd great grandfather, John M. SLAUGHTER,
born: Abt. 1795 in Richmond County, North Carolina, (son of Mary McDONALD,
(trying to find out who her parents were,) and Mary's husband, (Rev.) Owen
SLAUGHTER, Jr., (Owen, Jr.'s 2nd wife was Priscilla THOMAS, (maiden name,)
who was the widow of 1st husband, Simon THOMAS, (both descending from lineage
that has many men named Tristram THOMAS.)
The aforementioned Samuel CROUCH, after the death of 1st wife, Sarah ?,
(spec. poss. HUDSON?/HUTSON?,) married 2nd wife, Abigail McINTYRE.
Susan L. CROUCH and John M. SLAUGHTER were the parents of my maternal great
grandfather, Hudson/Hutson H. SLAUGHTER, born: March 13, 1844 in
Greene/Pickens County, Alabama, (his mother, Susan, died 10 days later.)
Susan was, as far as I know, one of 13 children and one of Susan's brothers
was Joseph CROUCH, born: 1825 in Richmond County, North Carolina, died:
Bef. 1880, who married Lavenia PANKEY, born: 1826 in Richmond County, North
Carolina, died: Benton County, Mississippi, md: Abt. 1843, (parents of Ann
Elizabeth, Martha, Eli, Nancy, Julia, Josephus, Thomas Jefferson, Samuel, and
Martin.)
This Lavenia PANKEY was the daughter of Elizabeth CHISHOLM, born: 1795 in
North Carolina, died: 1850, and Elizabeth's husband, William Auzey PANKEY,
born: 1793 in Ellerbe, Richmond County, North Carolina, died: September
1846 in Ellerbe, Richmond County, North Carolina, who was the son of Rebecca
NEWBERRY, born: 1774, died: June 06, 1826 in North Carolina, and Rebecca's
husband, Stephen PANKEY, Sr., born: 1765 in Halifax County, Virginia, died:
June 1863 in Richmond County, North Carolina, and Stephen was the son of
Betty POWELL, born: Abt. 1745, died: December 03, 1788 in Richmond County,
North Carolina, md: October 08, 1766 in Halifax County, Virginia, and
Betty's husband, John PANKEY, born: 1741 in Manakintown, Virginia, died:
April 1804 in Summer/Sumner County, Tennessee, and John was the son of
Dorothy HAMPTON, born: ?, died: October 02, 1722 in Lunenberg County,
Virginia, and Dorothy's husband, John Peter PANKEY, born: 1713 in
Manakintown, Virginia, died: June 1750 in either Manakintown or Lunenberg
County, Virginia, who was the son of Angell STEPHEN, (from what I read in one
place,) md: 1710, and Jean PANETIER/PANTIER/aka John PANKEY, born: 1660 in
Souboise/Soubise, Saintonge, France, died: July 1717 in Manakintown,
Virginia.
I am looking for any potential connection with the PANKEY-PANTIER-PANETIER
family group with my EVANS - JONES family that married into descendant family
of the aforementioned CROUCH - SLAUGHTER family that married into my HATTEN -
GRISHAM/GRESHAM/GRISSOM - FORD - CALVIT family that married into my JONES -
EVANS - McCARTY - SPRADLEY family group as follows, briefly.
Connecting from my Samuel CROUCH as mentioned above:
Samuel CROUCH & Sarah ?,
parents of:
Susan L. CROUCH & John M. SLAUGHTER,
parents of:
Hudson/Hutson H. SLAUGHTER & Claranda "Clara" WILLIAMS,
parents of:
Louis Hector "Hec" SLAUGHTER & Ethel Rosalie HATTEN
(Ethel's 1st husb: Joseph Marion WOMACK, Sr.)
(Louis's 1st wife: Mrs. Callie Martha MUNN, (wid. of Sam V. ADAMS)
(Louis's 2nd wife: Mary LEE)
Ethel Rosalie HATTEN was the
daughter of:
Cicero Lamkin HATTEN & Rodella "Della" JONES
Rodella "Della" JONES was the daughter of:
William Tunley JONES, (CSA,) and wife, Martha Ann Caroline McCARTY,
(William Tunley JONES was the son of:
Alson Bluford "Gip" JONES and Malinda EVANS,
(Alson Bluford "Gip" JONES was the son of
Benjamin JONES, immigrant, in Abt.
1802 from England to Mobile, AL)
(Malinda EVANS, born: February 06, 1810 in GA,
died: September 27, 1875 in Winn Parish, LA
md: August 31, 1825 in Rankin Co., MS
daughter of "Panther" EVANS, born: Bet. 1780-1790 in ?/
poss. in South Carolina, lived later in Jasper Co.,
MS)
