Dear Morgan,
My notes aren't on the page. Too many people either misread or misuse
others work. I did it to verify Huguenot ancestry and for the fascinating
story of the Calvits, and my ancestors in the settlement of Americans in
Texas as pioneers, cattle ranchers, cotton farmers and yes, even rustlers.
(bad apples in every family). It has been shown that they were not pure as
the driven snow in either their dealings and their DNA. The term is "Red
Bones" which stands for a mixture of Caucasian (French), English, a tad of
American Indian and a tiny tad of black.
My cousin once told me to sit down and then she said one sentence: "We got
rhythm!"
The Calvits married into the Thomas family and I think that was where that
phrase started.
I want to send this to you as we are what we are. I didn't chose my
ancestors but they sure as heck are interesting.
They fought with the Confederates and were proud of their heritage.
So the gist of this says to you, this is yours to have. If you use or share
it, be aware I have one area, and likely more, which I cannot prove rock
solid but "preponderance of the evidence". I have stated where and why I
believed this to be so. I have cited sources and books I have used. I have
spend no small amount of money getting all my info together.
If you use it, I cannot stress enough to give me credit for my work, my
sources and my comments. Please don't put your own name in anything I send.
These are our ancestors and it is fitting I should share but with the above
reservations of giving credit where credit is due.
My name is Ms. Robin E. Harrison and I descend from Stephen Elijah Calvit
formerly of Mississippi and Galveston and Houston Texas and finally the
Panama Canal Zone where he was a tool and die maker for the Construction of
the Canal. He married Annie Wright and they had children in Houston and all
went to Panama during Pioneering days in 1907. My grandmother, father and
mother, myself and my siblings were all born down there. We are called
Zonians.
Sincerely,
Robin
