Does anyone else have any ideas for Linda? I don't recognize the
people she mentions (other than Anthony and his wife, obviously).
She's not on this list.

Dear Morgan,
I just came across your wonderful listing of the Calvit Family.
Thank you for posting it.
I am trying to solve a family mystery. Hopefully, you can help. My
gg grandmother was Mary Rosanna Calvit, born in Rapides Parish on
Sept. 12, 1832 (not to be confused with other Rosannas). Her brother
was James S. Calvit, born in 1837 and a veteran of the Civil War. I
can't locate their mother. A document I once saw said John S. Calvit
was the half-brother to Coleman Martin Calvit. This would mean their
father was Anthony Calvit. Anthony's wife died in 1816 and Anthony
died about 1847. It is probable that he remarried after Mary Mayes
died and the new wife was my Rosana's mother. However, there is no
record of this, especially since the courthouse was burned during
the Civil War.
Have you ever heard of these people? They are buried in the
Flatwoods Cemetery. In fact, John S. Calvit donated the 5 acres for
the cemetery. They lived in the Lena/Flatwoods/Cotile/Boyce area all
their lives.
The 1830 census for A. Calvit indicates small children that would
fit their age descriptions.
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
