Belinda:
I might just be Aunt Bertha--Some gentleman sent me 4 disks on the Grantham
family--more than I ever thought I needed to know about any family--and I am
willing to bet those disks hold about every grantham name mentioned this
side of the Atlantic!
I used the materials to document and complete my file on my Grantham
ancestor and then sort of pooped out on the rest. As you know, I am not
swift but I do sometimes come through--so would you like to send me some
linking names and dates on your Grantham--please --not the whole file--just
a generation or two-back-sideways or forward--and if I need more I will ask.
OK?
Now, about your Dicken son folks--I have a John Dickenson who married into
the Mullins family in Lawrence County--he was an attorney--or at least he
was appointed adminstrator of a mullins estate and ended up marrying the
daughter. your dates are about right. Would you like to venture a little
more data on this line too?
Kate

Hi, Kate,
Thanks. I do understand.
Yes, I have been talking to Pauline and she has, also, been very helpful.
We
are still trying to place who my Elizabeth CALVIT is though as well
as
John
MIDDLETON..... Pauline has information on him and who it appears that
his
father is which may be as far as we can get at this time.
I realize that there are just some of these ancestors that are just going
to
remain hidden for awhile or forever or at least until 'Aunt
Bertha's
neice,
Clara, decides to go through her mother, Mildred's, trunk that
hasn't been
opened for 30 years and unearths letters from Uncle Horace that he wrote
to
her Aunt Phoebe that finally mentions, in one obscure paragraph, that
the
ancestor we were looking for really existed and where he was born and who
his
father and mother were.'
My even bigger frustrations are the ancestral grandparents that are even
closer in that you would think someone had something on in these oh-so-big
families of the South.....my 2nd great grandmother, Rebecca DICKSON, born:
1826, parents: ??, possibly in Covington or Lawrence Co., MS, and married
Isom Daniel HERRINGTON, born: 1828 is one of those. I cannot find
anything
out about Rebecca and it's making me nuts! Also my Cynthia
GRANTHAM,
born:
1800 in SC, parents: ??, who married William HERRINGTON, Jr., born:
abt.
1794 in NC, (father: Wm, Sr., born: abt. 1755, (RS,) and Elizabeth
PIERCE,
born: 1790, parents: ?? who married William MYRICK, born: abt. 1788
in
SC
or NC, parents: ??, are just as obscure. I have some lines that
just go
on
and on and on forever and some of these quite probably were effected
by
burned court houses, etc.. So..........I just breathe deeply and keep on
looking! <lol>
Talk to you later. Thanks, again.
