HI: I am taking this material from material sent to me by Leroy Moffett who
was doing research on a book on the Buckels. I was doing research on the
Fords in Southwest MS. I believe this data I am giving you to be correct
but I PERSONALLY have not verified it at the source.
John Ford b 1766 in PA died 11 Sept 1844 and is buried in the Ford Cemetery
in Franklin County MS. (S30, T6N, R4Ek just in case you are into land
sites).
He married Elizabeth--last name unknown--she was born 6 March 1780 in KY.
She died 10 September 1843 and is buried in the Ford Cemetery same site as
above.
John and Elizabeth Ford had 9 children:
1. Henry Ford b about 1794. married about 1817 to a unknown Buckels. they
had 3 or 4 children
2. John Ford born 1796 Natchez district no other data
3. Anna Ford b 1802 in Adams Co MS
m 14 Feb 1822 Franklin Co MS to William Duncan Buckels
d 1880=1890 Adams Co Ms Buried at the Buckels Cemetery (sec 49, T7N,
R/W) Adams Co Ms this couple had 11 children
4. Nancy Ford m Jeptha Higdon on 2 Nov 1833 Franklin Co MS. This couple
had childen; she is buried with the Higdons--My family married into the
Higdon family, in case you want more date on Jeptha.
5. Thomas C. Ford b 21 Aug 1809 Franklin Co
m Minerva R. Vardeman 17 Nov 1834
d. 26 Sept 1841 buried Ford Cemetery
they had 4 children
6. Jesse Evans Ford b 12 Feb 1811
m. 31 May 1838 to Mary Ann Buckels. They had 5 children; Mary Ann
died and he married Ann Wactor in the 1850's Jesse died 22 Dec 1899
7. Levi W. Ford b 24 Oct 1816 d 20 June 1837 unmarried
8, Nathan Ford b 16 June 1818 d 24 June 1836 unmarried
9. Lettitia Ford b 17 Jan 1820 unmarried.
All of these folks except where noted buried at Ford Cemetery..
Your John Ford cannot be the son of Joseph Ford. First, he is too
young--the John in Joseph's will could be his father--except that he is
listed in the census as coming from PA--all of Joseph's family came from
South and North Carolina. Leroy and I had a conversation about this but
we never resolved who the father of the John Ford b in 1766 was.
I don't know about Elizabeth, wife of John ford, being a Buckels---Leroy was
a Buckels descendant and he was pretty good about that family's history.
There was a book published on the Buckels family about 3-6 years ago. There
is a copy of it in the Franklin County MS Library. I would think that a
e-mail to Jo Porter, Librarian would at least get you a correct name and
publisher for the book -- I know she balks at being asked to look up
individual people as she gets so many of these requests.
Sorry--I have more data on Joseph Ford, b 1724 but as I said, he cannot be
the father of your John Ford.
Kate
