Hi, Calvit cousins:
The Shreve Library in downtown Shreveport has a whole floor of genealogy
material; it's terrific! If any of you have the chance to visit it, do so!

Just wanted to tell everyone that we made a short trip to Mississippi
and I
for one was took with the place. I don't know how many of you have visited
the Natchez area, but they really are nice people down there. Met Randy and
Carol Calvert and had a very exciting visit with them. Went out to the
Calviton Cemetery and what Benny and I think was the old Calviton
homeplace.
Kay, we are all still here, just working on other stuff. I got to
brag a
little to some other Calvits that were wanting to know all about our past.
I
have a personal goal to find Joseph Harrison Calvit's grave.
Benny and I
came up with a theory about Mary Calvit Higdon. We are thinking she was
living with Thomas when she was introduce to the infamous Aaron Burr. This
was a short time before her death in the spring. She must be buried in or
around Calviton Cemetery but there is not a tombstone to mark her grave that
we found. Could be covered up. That place really needs some work. If
anyone has some theories about this throw them out. Has anyone ever been to
the libraries in or around Shreveport La? There must be some good
information there. Better close and just wanted to let ya'll know we are
still alive and kickin.
