Hey, Cousin Kay and others,
Happy Halloween! to you, too!
Well, Cousin Kay, we are definitely in the same 'ballpark' here.....let's see
if we can bat any homeruns!
My 2nd great grandmother was Frances Elizabeth GRISHAM, born: 1840, who
married Lawrence M. HATTEN, born: 1833, died: 1866 (at Camp Chase, Ohio as
a Confederate Soldier in the Civil War who wounded and captured at the Battle
of Nashville after having fought in the Battle of Franklin, both in
Tennessee,) and later Frances married Zachery Taylor FAITH.
Frances Elizabeth GRISHAM was the daughter of Elizabeth Ann FORD born bet.
1815 - 1819 in Franklin Co., MS, and married Jehu Madison GRISHAM, born: 22
Apr 1815 in GA, and she was the daughter of Mary BUCKLES, born: abt. 1797 in
Natchez Dist., Adams County, Mississippi, and was the daughter of
Mahala/Mahalia MIDDLETON, (thought to be the daughter of John MIDDLETON of
Homochitto area in Natchez, MS,) and Abram BUCKLES, aka Abraham BUCKHOLTS,
Jr., (son of Sarah HODGE and Abraham BUCKHOLTS, Sr., immigrated shortly after
his birth abt. 1729 in Prussia, to SC, father: Jacob/Jacobus BUCKHOLTZ(S,)
born: 1707 in Peterswalde, Neilsbert, East Prussia.) (The 2nd wife of Abram
BUCKLES/Abram BUCKHOLTS, Jr. was Nancy KILLIAN whose 1st husband was Abraham
GALTNEY, both of Natchez, MS.) Mary BUCKLES husband and father of the above
mentioned Elizabeth Ann FORD was Henry FORD, born: abt. 1790 in Natchez
Dist., Adams Co., MS, who was the son of John D. FORD, BORN: 1766 in VA,
died: 11 Sep 1844 and married wife, Elizabeth CALVIT in 1784 in Natchez
Dist., Adams Co., MS. (I am still trying to find out the parents of
Elizabeth CALVIT.) John D. FORD and his brother, Robert FORD, born: abt.
1730 were the sons of Joseph FORD, born: abt. 1726, died: 06 Nov 1804 in
Natchez Dist., Adams Co., MS, and wife: Rebecca ?, (who was she?) and who
was the father of Joseph FORD ??
Also, my family wound up in West Carroll Parish, Louisiana near Oak Grove and
Forest with both sets of my grandparents, Ethel Rosalee HATTEN (WOMACK,) and
Louis Hector SLAUGHTER, (on my mother's side,) their families were from Winn
Parish and Franklin Parish, respectively, moving into West Carroll Parish,
both sets having arrived in Louisiana from Mississippi initially, and my
father's family from Simpson Co., MS in the 1920's to West Carroll Parish.
Prior to that they were in Jasper Co., Covington Co., Lawrence Co., and
Attala Co., MS. The various families, for the most part, arrived in the
early 1600's from England, (many originally from Wales,) with a handful from
Ireland, Scotland, Prussia, and France in the early 1700's, also still trying
to locate a couple of Indian/Native American lines, Cherokee and Choctaw.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Bellinda Myrick - Barnett
