Hi, Kay! Thanks for getting that started!
As list manager, I've been slacking on promoting conversation <g>. And my
genealogy's been suffering while I'm distracted with other pursuits :(
Following Kay's lead:
I live in New York now, also from Louisiana.
My connection with the CALVIT lines comes in with marriage into my WELLS
line. Mary Elizabeth CALVIT married Samuel Levi WELLS II in Washington,
Adams Co., MS in 1794. Samuel was born in the "West Florida" area of
Louisiana. I'm not sure/when he met Mary Elizabeth, but he lived in
Natchez, Mississippi in April 1795 and apparently after that in 1795 they
settled in Rapides Parish, LA. (Note: I have a relative genealogist who
disputes and says Samuel was born in South Carolina.)
I'll paste an abbreviated descendant chart. I look forward to hearing from
anyone!

Hello CALVIT Cousins!!
Happy Halloween....BOO !!
hehehe
It is time we had a roll call on the CALVIT List and see how many are
still here.
My name is Kay and I live in Texas (but I was born in Louisiana) and my
GG-Grandfather is Samuel Francis CALVIT who was born in Natchez Dist.
Adams County, Mississippi in 1828 the son of Thomas CALVIT & Priscilla
MITCHELL CALVIT. They later moved to Yazoo Co. Miss. and in 1856 to
Epps, Louisiana in West Carroll Parish. Samuel was a school teacher and
a Confederate Soldier. He died in Epps, La. W. Carroll Par. 1877 and
buried Midway Cemetery. His wife was Mary Ann MATHEWS and she died in
1935.Their children were: Frances Lydia, Ada W., Thomas William,
Jefferson, Fleming Monroe, Sarah "Sallie" (my G-Grandma), John & George
Wade CALVIT.
Hope everyone on the CALVIT List have been having tons of luck finding
what you are searchng for. I am still tracking all my Louisiana lines
and having fun doing it !!
Hope to find more cousins.
Let's hear it from yall out there.
Cousin Kay
