Calverts~
So I have been reading this info about Elizabeth Harrison and now must
ask you if i should remove her from my Calvert family history?
Who are others recording as the wife of John Calvert? Do we go back to
O'Gorman,
she was wrong on part of my Hamrick Calvert's I know that, your advice?
thanks, Jill
:
: We are also most likely descendants of Burr
: Harrison, who was one of the first settlers in
: Stafford County, however there has been great
: difficulty in establishing the relationship
: between the Calvert and Harrison families.
:
: I certainly do not disagree with your message.
: What I think is wrong is the information from
: Colonial Families of the United States. If this
: gets printed over and over again, somebody will
: reach the conclusion that John Calvert married
: Elizabeth Harrison the daughter of Benjamin
: Harrison and Elizabeth Burwell Harrison.

: Your Message was as follows:
:
: George, of course you can be as 'right' as I can
: be 'wrong' but I have found sources giving Jane
: Harrison as the wife of John Calvert. In fact,
: John's son, George, named his daughter Jane, not
: Anne for his wife. When I followed John and Jane
: down through my own Calvert line, my 5th great
: grandfather named his dau. Anna Cabell Harrison
: Calvert which definitely indicated to me that the
: Harrison line was his. In no other way can I
: imagine that name for a dau. Jane Harrison is also
: given as his wife on DAC records, supposedly
: coming from a family Bible. I wrote to them for
: information on the women's sources. I know none of
: this is actual proof but then, most of what we do
: from long ago has to be various sources we find
: that give the same information without our seeing
: the actual documents.
: Let me add that I consider you one of the top
: Calvert researchers, but this line is also my own.
